Chicago Botanic Garden Hosts Tu BShvat Activities Jewish Festival of Trees, Feb. 5, 2006
GLENCOE, Ill. (Oct. 11, 2005) The Chicago Botanic Garden and the National Council of Jewish Women, Chicago North Shore Section, will celebrate Tu BShvat, the Jewish Festival of Trees, with special family activities from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 5 at the Garden.
A variety of fun, educational drop-in activities will focus on the joy trees bring to the world. Families can create and decorate a paper tree; plant seeds and take the pot home to watch them grow; enjoy a reading corner filled with books about trees and Tu BShvat; and more. Admission and activities are free. Parking is $12. The National Council of Jewish Women works to improve the quality of life for women and children. With "wows" around every corner, the Chicago Botanic Garden is a 385-acre living museum featuring 23 display gardens, including Evening Island, Fruit & Vegetable, Japanese and English Walled. The Garden is open every day of the year, except Dec. 25. From June 2 through Sept. 5, 2005, extended hours are from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Admission is free; select event fees apply. Parking is $12. On Tuesdays, senior citizens age 62 and older pay just $7 for parking. The Garden is located at 1000 Lake Cook Road in Glencoe, IL.
