Are you "The One"
After the flash trailer appearing, Nokia have now announced their new title One, a 3-d Fighting Beat em up with a whole host of multiplayer styles and ranking options that take advantage of the N-Gage Arena. You'll have to wait until October 2005 to find out how the character customisation and mod system works.. we're thinking an AD&D style character generation system when you start.
What we do know is that ONE will have a global leader table. Right from the start there always be someone to challenge at the top of the table. After going through the Nokia Presentation I think it's fair to say that someone has been watching Highlander. When you fight someone online and win, you'll be able to absorb some of their special powers and skills into your own character. Which is great, but I hope that the system will let new players get involved and be able to start at the bottom. If everyone roaming online is either a new player or a super street fighter, it's not going to be a great experience.
The Nokia branded titles (Ashen, Pathway to Glory and Snakes) all seem to have a much higher level of satisfaction than other titles, so I'll trust the designers for the moment. After all, with all those buttons on the N-Gage, it's almost tailor made for carrying out thouse thumb twisting special moves that Beat Em Ups are famed for.
