About Doug I was born in Charleston, WV and moved to and grew up in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. My first career right out of high school was in the U.S. Navy, (1972 - 1990) serving for just under 18 years. My family first came up to the beautiful mountains in Hiawassee, Georgia from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida in 1981. We fell in love with the serenity of Lake Chatuge and all that an enchanted area has to offer. My parents retired here and are more in love with the area than the day they moved. I can't blame them.
After my military career, I dove right into sales and marketing with my brother and then into several well known direct marketing companies. I have held the titles of VP of Marketing Operations and Director of Marketing among others. Additionally, I have worked as a Sr. Technical Business Analyst in various projects, including disaster recovery and business continuity planning. My wife, Cynthia, works at the Clay County Health Department in Hayesville, NC as a Nutritionist, She works with a great group of people and medical professionals. We have 3 children, who are all grown and are hard workers in their own right. Melissa, lives and works in Blairsville, GA, Ashley is in her junior year at Wright State University in Dayton, OH and Wesley is a Junior at Miami University in Oxford, OH. We are very proud of each of them. Jim and Becky Hall are my parents, and they have long been active members in the community since 1981. They are both artists, one of the painting variety and the other more with wood and tools. For about 7 years they had a booth and juried work at the Georgia Mountain Fair, an annual, 12-day event. Some of the finest lamps you ever saw. Mom is a retired Director of Human Resources and Pop a retired charter boat captain. Both came up to Hiawassee from Fort Lauderdale, FL. Mother-in-law, Jackie Scott, is retired and enjoys her garden in Seattle, WA. We are going to get he to move here some day. Cynthia and I have family in Louisville KY, Pompano Beach FL, Dallas TX, Portland OR, Dayton OH, and of course, here in Georgia. My marketing experience is vast and includes direct mail, print advertising, radio and television, and of course the Internet. Along the way I also obtained a Master of Science in Computer Science, somewhat rare in this field of endeavor. I have a very analytical background, which I will put to work for you right away. Using my vast marketing experience and network of active real estate agents nationwide, I can provide you with the advantage you seek in getting your home seen. Recent studies have shown that less than 50% of all Realtors surveyed have a website, and less than 20% of those that do have a website know how to market it correctly. I believe I know how to do it right. Maximum exposure and visibility of your home or property is tantamount to getting it sold.
A good listener, I won't show you property that you have no interest in or desire to see. My own experiences in looking for a home formed some very vivid pictures of "how I would do it" if I was a Realtor. I will only show you what you tell me you want to see - period! Sure I get excited about a new listing or an exiting property, but I will ask you first. I won't waste your time or mine. We will move at your pace; want to take it slow since it is your first time buying? Not a problem. Need to speed things along in order to meet a deadline? We can do that too. If you want an honest agent with only your best interest in mind, then I am your agent. When you buy a property it is going to be because you want it, not because I want you to have it. It will be your choice. When we have an Agency Agreement, it is my responsibility to make sure you know everything that I know about a property and to provide you with honest, straight from the hip answers, so that you can make the best informed decision possible.
So what are you waiting for? Give me a call today and let's get together over a nice cold iced tea or a hot cup of coffee and talk. It's on me.
