Virginia Falls Sightseeing Tour

This 5 to 6 hour tour departs from Northern Rockies Lodge on Muncho Lake. We fly over southeastern Yukon, across the Flat River and reach Virginia Falls in Nahanni National Park. We land upstream of the falls for a 2 1/2 hour stopover which gives you ample time to hike the trails and boardwalk maintained by Parks Canada. Observe the thundering beauty of Virginia Falls up close from various viewpoints... you will also explore the entrance of 5 Mile Canyon.

We provide you with lunch. Our return flight to Muncho Lake can take you over the 3,000 foot deep canyon system of the South Nahanni River to Deadman Valley and back to our lodge.

Nahanni Canoeing

The South Nahanni is a big river with powerful currents, boils and challenging whitewater. River travellers should have intermediate whitewater skills before setting out on your own. The South Nahanni River is navigable from June to September.

Paddlers typically begin a river trip at a designated landing area within the park. A river trip from Virginia Falls will take 7 to 10 days, while a river trip from Rabbitkettle Lake will take 10 to 14 days.

Reservations with Parks Canada are required for canoeing in Nahanni. It is recommended you make your reservation well in advance due to popular demand. Registration through the park office is required prior to entering the park for a river trip... de-registration is mandatory upon your safe return. If you are planning to fish while canoeing the Nahanni, a valid national park fishing permit is also required.

This is an unguided canoe tour... you must provide your own tent, sleeping bag and food. Canoe rentals are available through Northern Rockies Lodge.

Package price for Nahanni Canoeing includes return transportation from/to Vancouver to your destination, 2 nights camping at Muncho Lake based on 1, 2, 3 or 4 week trip. Pick-up from Nahhani Butte orBlackstone included

Package price does not include canoe rental, external load, taxes, accommodation and park use fees if applicable. Maximum 300 pounds (135 kg) per person including equipment.

A waiver and contract has to be signed.

All Nahanni canoeing packages require a minimum booking of 2 persons.
