Learn the art of fly
tying to create beautiful and effective fishing lures
Have you ever wanted to learn the art of fly tying so you could make
your own fishing lures? You’re not alone! More and more people are
taking up fly tying, especially older anglers with more time on their
hands. Creating these eye-catching fishing flies does take a bit of
study and practice, but there’s a major advantage now: the Internet.
Tying flies can be learned without having to leave home, visit a
master fly maker, or spend a lot of money.

I’m a big fan of the search engine Google (www.google.com).
If you want to learn fly tying, that’s a great place to start. Search
for the phrase “fly tying” or even “fishing lures +fly” and you’ll get
a lot of good results.
I’ve done this myself recently, and I recommend the following fly
tying sites for good illustrations and easy explanations. You will
learn to build amazing fishing lures in just a few short hours of
reading and practice.

One of the best things about fly tying is that the tools and materials
are very inexpensive. Some of the most stunning handmade fishing
lures I’ve ever seen probably cost the creator less than a dollar
total.
Keep in mind that fly tying takes a lot of practice and a steady
hand. Your first few fishing lures are bound to be fairly ugly. But
that doesn’t mean they won’t catch fish!
Finally, approach the fly tying learning process as just that – a
process. You will likely improve a bit at a time, each creation
slightly better than the last. Eventually, you’ll have a tackle box
full of wonderful fishing lures that your friends will envy.
