Salmon fishing - a great fish to catch, but it'll cost you!
Salmon
fishing is one of most popular outdoor sports in the United States and
Canada. Thousands of people learn how to fish for these creatures
every year. However, salmon fishing can be a very costly endeavor
because their populations have dwindled so much. In order to go after
them, the law often requires that you have a guide to show you how to
fish for them within legal bounds. So be prepared to spend some bucks
if you want to do it right.
Salmon
fishing is costly because you do not just need to learn how to fish
for them; many folks also must travel great distances and camp out for
weeks at a time in order to find the optimal angling conditions. Many
fishermen travel to Nova Scotia, Iceland, and even Norway in order to
catch the best of these fighting lunkers. In the U.S., Alaska is
widely considered to be home of the best Salmon fishing.
Many
of the rivers for excellent salmon fishing in the United States are
privately owned. This is great for the owners, but it means that you
will have to pay lofty fees in order to acquire rights to fish there.
Many fishermen find that once you add up hotel fees, legal fees, guide
fees, etc. it is cheaper to go to a foreign angling Mecca (like
Norway) rather than trying it out on the home turf.
The supplies for salmon fishing can
be expensive as well. It is no use learning how to fish for these
animals with regular lures, because in most places it is illegal to
use any angling methods other than flyfishing to catch them. It’s a
lot of fun, but a lot of work and expense too!
