La Chenaie is the last property in
a quiet hamlet on the outskirts of the village of St Barthelemy. The
houses are south facing with views across the fields and woods beyond. You
can walk through these woods and arrive at the river where you can follow
the towpath for miles and enjoy the nature and wildlife it has to offer.
St Barthelemy is just a short bike ride or a 20 minute walk away and a 5
minute drive brings you to the market town of Baud where you can find
supermarkets, shops, banks and restaurants. The nearest beach is 35
minutes drive. All year round, rediscover the peaceful pursuits that have
survived passing fads and fancies. Imagine walking through the woods,
cycling along the river path, angling for trout or bird watching.
Lazing by the pool in summer or a log fire in winter.
In the region you can also discover the rich inland sea of the Golfe du
Morbihan (in Breton Mer = sea, bihan = little), the striking cliffs of the
cote sauvage, pretty beaches and bays, medieval towns and churches.
Enjoy the delicious wines of France and the local produce and seafood of
the region, at your own table or at one of the many excellent restaurants.
If you require any further information on the area or La Chenaie or have
any special requirements, please do call us. We are here to help you make
the most of your holiday.
“The Blavet makes many meanders to find its way to the Atlantic, biding a
while for the pleasure of the river folk. You will see it slowly go around
a wooded hill, tumble over a weir, become impatient between lock gates,
carry the barges of the forges of Hennebont, quench the thirst of the
horses of the National Stud; play with the young canoeists of
Lochrist, reflect the gothic spires of the Chapel of St Nicodemus, grasp
the springs of St Adrien and nourish pike; trout and salmon. The Blavet,
the river that forges a link between Merlin and Poseidon.”
