Research Network

The Center collaborates with investigators at other institutions both nationally and internationally to carry out large-scale, multi-center studies. Network sites include: Biometry Core

The Biometry Core has overseen the management and analysis of Dr. Drossman's research programs and, with recent NIH infrastructure funding, has become a resource for the entire Center. It provides statistical consultation, data management, and statistical analysis to Center investigators and their outside collaborating investigators. Access to this resource is on a request basis and is generally limited to funded research projects. The Biometry Core also maintains a large database of potential subjects for future research studies. Staff of the Biometry Core are: Data Acquisition & Technology Applications Core (DATA)

The DATA Core is a Center resource funded through the five-year infrastructure grant from NIH. It provides support for the development and use of: (a) scannable questionnaires, (b) Internet-based questionnaires, (c) Internet surveys, (d) collection of data by telephone, and (e) research project management through the Internet. Consultation and assistance with data management and statistical analysis are also provided. Staff of the DATA Core are: Seed Grant Core

The NIH infrastructure grant also provides funding for a Seed Grant Program that supports up to three pilot projects each year. These research grants are awarded to young investigators for studies related to functional GI and motility disorders, and are intended for the generation of pilot data to support an NIH grant application. Applicants must identify a research mentor who will accept joint responsibility for project management. For further information, see:
