Pay raise support imperils Jubelirer's re-election bid
Sen. Robert Jubelirer, the state Senate's top leader, is facing his tightest  re-election battle in years for Tuesday's primary, facing two Republican opponents and voter outrage in Blair County over his support for last summer's legislative pay raise. The race is drawing attention statewide.

Miner knows firsthand about oxygen devices like those used at Sago
Three years ago, Cambria County miner Joe Tenerowicz faced a mine emergency and did what he was trained to do: donned a emergency oxygen device and fought through smoke to find missing men. The type of device he used is under scrutiny following the Sago Mine tragedy that killed 12 men in January.

Local men honored for efforts to save others
This is all about two decisions, one blurred by adrenaline, one later clouded by a coma, made by two men. Robert Blasko, of North Huntingdon, and Jarrett Cherok, of Whitaker, each took extraordinary measures to save others. For their actions, they were honored yesterday by the Carnegie Hero Fund Commission.
