In a Peaceful hamlet setting over looking 2 acres of woodland, situated between the market towns of Melle and Chef-Boutonne, Les Chaumes is an ideal base for exploring the Poitou-Charentes region. The area enjoys a warm climate, second only to the South of France. The region boasts many attractions including the Marais Poitevin, Cognac, Futuroscope at Poitiers and the Atlantic coastal resorts of La Rochelle and Royan.

Les Chaumes position at the heart of the region makes it an ideal base for expolring the varied attractions. Cognac, the home of the famous brandy distilleries is within an hours drive. A guided tour and tasting at one of the brandy houses is a must for any brandy enthusiast. The beautiful old port of La rochelle is easily reached, with golden sandy beaches and a variety of shops and pavement cafe's. The Marais Poitevin, or 'Venice Verte', is a tranquil network of canals where you can hire a punt and spend a relaxing day exploring the marsh lands and its picturesque villages. Poitiers has roman achitecture and Futuroscope, a theme park dedicated to the moving image. Close by is Lac du Lambon, with a beach area, water sports and lakeside walks, ideal for families. Melle has a weekly market, a silver mine and a beautiful church. Chef-Boutonne also has a weekly market, a chateau and fishing lake.

All 3 gites have full use of the large swimming pool and sun terrace. There is a covered bar area next to the terrace, ideal for a cooling drink. The games room is equipped with a pool table, darts, table tennis and table football. There is a barbeque and patio furniture, ideal for 'al fresco' dining. All our gites have wood burners and electric heating making them suitable for winter breaks. Long lets at discounted rates available out of season.
