Maison Bleue is one of a handful of houses that make up the tiny hamlet of Carvach. Our nearest town is Cléguérec, two kilometres away, with a wide range of amenities. Guemene-sur-Scorff and Pontivy are larger towns, nearby, offering a greater variety of shops and facilities.
A choice of bars and restaurants in the surrounding area serve food that ranges from snacks to gourmet meals and, of course, Breton specialities such as cider and crepes and mussels and chips.
We are within two hours’ drive of both Roscoff and St.Malo, about four from Cherbourg and seven/eight from Boulogne and Calaix. The gites are set in the middle of rural Brittany with miles of beautiful countryside to explore, ideal for driving, cycling or walking. The Nantes-Brest canal and River Blavet pass close by and Lake Guerledan is just fifteen minutes - with watersports, fishing and swimming.
The beaches of the south coast are less than an hour away, as is the lively town of Lorient which hosts an amazing, annual, ten-day Celtic Festival, at the beginning of August.
Nearer home is Pontivy, a bright, busy market town, of Medieval origins. Markets and fests add local colour and atmosphere. The location is ideal for pursuing a variety of interests and activities, and, for those of you who enjoy wining and dining, there are a number of bars and restaurants to try!
FISHING AND GOLF
If you are keen on either of these pastimes, both are available locally.

Maison Bleue is a traditional Breton longere - thick stone walls, slate roof and very long! It is one of a tiny hamlet of eight houses, on a very quiet lane. The property is set in a large garden with panoramic, rural views. The property consists of three self-contained units, two gites and our own accommodation, set in grounds of 3,500 square metres. At one end of the building is a pottery workshop, where guests are welcome to experiment with modelling and using the wheel. The front garden has plenty of space for parking or sitting enjoying the sun. An old hangar provides covered parking. To the rear is a large grassed area (approx. 1800sq.m.) with panoramic views over Breton countryside - an ideal spot for games, relaxing in the sun or enjoying drinks and a barbecue. We have recently installed a pool: above ground, hexagonal, diameter 5 metres, depth 1.20m. - perfect for cooling down on a warm day. Close to the pool is a patio area and plenty of garden furniture.
THE ACCOMMODATION
Maison Bleue has two self-contained, single-storey gites. They have been newly renovated, with care and attention to detail, and are comfortable and well-equipped.
