Disaster Recovery Solutions and Business Continuity Planning

FiberCloud is well-equipped and staffed to work with you to design and provision a customized strategy for mission-critical business continuity, business recovery, and data preservation, using techniques such as the following:

  • Weekly tape backup

  • Daily tape backup

  • Timed file replication

  • Off-site data vaulting

  • Off-site server replication

  • Fully-redundant site

Our data center sites are designed with survivability in mind. With our multiple locations, you can choose a facility that is:

  • Built to Seismic Zone 3 standards
  • Located away from Seattle and Vancouver fault zones
  • Independent of major metropolitan target areas for man-made disasters
  • Equipped with redundant fiber access points into the facility
  • Connected into a multi-homed redundant network with cross-configured routers and switches connecting to multiple Tier 1 US and Canadian carriers.

Business Continuity
A business continuity strategy outlines plans and procedures to avoid interruption of critical business operations, including production, sales and marketing, finance and administration, and other essential corporate functions. Business continuity proactively reduces risk. Because little or no downtime is allowed, systems must be fully redundant and fail-over automatically, and no single points of failure are permitted. Data must be available at all times.

Business Recovery
A business recovery strategy outlines plans and procedures to minimize the effects of downtime, and to restore systems to a productive state as quickly as possible. Business recovery manages risk after a disaster has occurred, and is focused on restoration of services affected by downtime. Business recovery is reactive to downtime, utilizing best efforts to bring systems back online. Some amount of downtime is acceptable.

Data Preservation
Data preservation is focused on the archival storage of data and information. Data preservation does not focus on mitigating the effects of risk, and access to archived data does not have any specific urgency.

Business continuity, business recovery, and data preservation each have a place in your overall strategy.
