Cringletie House is a romantically splendid Victorian baronial mansion set in 28 acres of gardens in the beautiful rolling hills of the Scottish Borders. Originally opened as a hotel in 1966 and fresh from a total renovation in the spring of 2004, Cringletie retains the atmosphere of a private country house. The 14 bedrooms are all individually decorated and all enjoy glorious views. Outside, there's a lovely 17th-century walled garden, which provides Cringletie's kitchen with a tempting variety of homegrown produce, no doubt contributing to the excellent ratings received by the hotel's chef, Paul Hart. Outdoors, there's much to do, from a beautiful walks to golfing, cycling and fishing.
