In an effort to enhance service delivery to the children and families
served by the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC),
the newly established Family Advocacy Division started operations on March
17, 2003. Staffed by social-service and law-enforcement professionals,
the division works proactively with families, law enforcement, and family-advocacy
agencies to provide technical assistance, referrals, and crisis-intervention
services. Intricately involved with NCMEC's Campaign Against Child Sexual
Exploitation, the division works on cases of extra-familial exploitation
providing support, appropriate referrals, and case follow-up.
