About BusinessOnLine
General Information
BusinessOnLine, a division of BusinessOL, Inc. was founded in 1997 with the mission of helping businesses capitalize on the online opportunity, and so spawned the name “BusinessOnLine.” Our focus has been narrowed from that of getting businesses online back in ’97, to our current focus of improving our clients’ online presence—better known as a Web site. With that focus, we have created and improved over 600 Web sites, including some of the most recognized brands in the world (see clients). We help industry leaders achieve industry leading results.
Our entire value proposition revolves around one core element—your Web site. We consult, optimize and strategize on how to best help our clients’ Web sites reach their full potential. The BOL service offering includes consulting, audits and strategy planning in two distinct areas: search engine optimization and Web site usability. Additionally, we have the design and coding expertise to implement site changes or completely rebuild your Web site.
BusinessOnLine is headquartered in San Diego, CA and has an office in Reston, VA with regional representation in over 30 major metropolitan areas including: Boston, Hartford, Baltimore, Charlotte, Charleston, Atlanta, Columbus, Cleveland, Dayton, Cincinnati, Grand Rapids/Kalamazoo, Chicago, Indianapolis, St. Louis, Kansas City, Denver, Houston, Seattle, Portland, Los Angeles and Orange County.
The Organization
BusinessOnLine is divided into four different departments. Each provides the highest level of service to our clients for that specific need, as opposed to being a “jack of all trades.” Our four departments include:
- Strategy and Planning
- Search Engine Optimization
- Web Site Usability
- Implementation and Development
Strategy and planning consists of project managers and Web strategists. Project managers are there to develop a business plan around any specific Web site initiative and ensure the plan is executed on time and on budget. Web site strategists use their years of experience in building specific Web initiatives to guide our clients through the sometimes choppy waters of Internet marketing.
The search engine optimization department is a team of search engine specialists that live, breathe and eat SEO. We have keyword phrase analysts, Google, Yahoo and MSN specialists, SEO strategists, SEO analysts and an SEO implementation team. This team monitors hundreds of Web sites hosted by BOL to track and benchmark the trends happening with major search engines. Moreover, they use the data to make statistically sound decisions on how to stay ahead of algorithmic changes.
Our Web site usability department is made up of experts in the discipline of Web site usability as well as a creative group that focuses on Web design. (Note, two separate types of work). Web design does not equate to Web site usability and vice versa. The usability staff ensures your site is meeting the minimum standards and best practices known to be true from years of research. Web designers make sure the design overlay is one that meets brand standards and provides a compelling look and feel.
The implementation and development team assists in implementing the recommended SEO or usability changes to the clients’ site. These guys and gals have skills in HTML coding, Cascading Style Sheets, CMS tools, e-commerce integration, custom scripting and more. All of which has a 100-point quality assurance audit in compliance with the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).
