The Hotel Drachen opened its door 1959 in the first shopping centre in Basel as one of the most modern Hotel in town. It only took a short period to be one of the most preferred hotel for business travellers as well as for individuals looking for a hotel nearby the world famous art museums and old town. Until today, the Hotel Drachen was obliged to serve a high standard of service and technical equipment. In the year 2001 and 2002, the Hotel Drachen renovated all the 43 rooms and junior suites completely. “Wonders of the modern and ancient world” was the motto of the 14 Spanish artists, who covered and decorated the rooms. This was the time, the Hotel Drachen has re-positioned itself. Now we can present the Hotel Drachen as the small, fine art-hotel in the heart of Basel with the latest technology and the only Hotel offering the guests a 70 cm flat screen TV. The Hotel is ideally located in the financial district and only few steps the city centre, where you will reach all points of interest like the museum Jean Tingely, Antic- and Historical Museum, Doll House and Anatomical Museum and of course the Foundation Beyeler with 180 works of classical modernism and the Vitra Architectural museum. The famous market-place with the town hall and also the river Rhine with his variety of bridges are in walking distances.
