Enjoy the calming whitewater ocean views from the comfort of the Blue Whale Beach House's sweetly decorated interior, or its exterior decks which feature a hot tub and several table and chair sets. A short easy walk to Virgin Creek Beach offers a smooth sandy shoreline and some of the most surfable waves in Mendocino County. Hike, bike or jog the shoreline Haul Road, 1 mile North to MacKerricker State Park's Cleone Lake, a formal tidal lagoon where 90 species of birds visit or live near. Continuing just another mile North with the King Range's Lost Coast in your distant view, you arrive at the Ten Mile Dunes, one of California's most pristine beaches and sand dune habitats where you can see harbor seals, sea otters. dolphin and of course, whales (in season). All this remote natural beauty, yet just a 10 minute drive to fishing & whale watching charters, movie theatres, a bowling alley, a wide variety of restaurants, art galleries, a hospital and Fort Bragg's historic Skunk Train rides through the redwoods.

Beachcombing and/surfing on Virgin Creek Beach, Hiking, biking or jogging the shoreline Haul Road, birdwatching at MacKerricker State Park's Cleone Lake, horseback riding and viewing of harbor seals, sea otters, dolphin and whales (in season) at Ten Mile Dunes. In the town of Ft Bragg is the historic Skunk Train, movie theatres, bowling, restaurants and art galleries. A 15 minute drive south is the village of Mendocino with Pacific bluff views, more art galleries & shops and resaurants. And at home in the Blue Whale Beach House is are a hot tub, 2 satellite TV systems with DVD players and a collection of movies and a game room for the kids.
