- Will I be able to hold my reservation if I want to explore other travel options?
If you purchase your ticket at the time you make your reservation, you can secure your ticket, the fare you've been quoted and a guarantee for a full refund without penalty fees if you cancel your reservation by the end of the next day. Customers First refund can be requested online at nwa.com. If you don't cancel the reservation, however, you will not receive a refund unless you have purchased a fully refundable fare. From nwa.com home page, select `View Reservations' or click here to go to `View Reservations & E-Ticket Details' page. Provide passenger last name and confirmation number. From the `Travel Reservation & E-Ticket Details' page, you will see a link for Cancel Reservation and request refund. Click this link to request refund. Your reservation will be cancelled at the same time your E-Ticket refund is requested. Online refund can be requested for Northwest Airlines E-Tickets only (ticket number beginning with 012). All the flights in the reservation must be marketed by Northwest Airlines and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines.
Customers First refund for Award tickets purchased using WorldPerks miles must be requested through WorldPerks Reservations at 1-800-447-3757.

Can Northwest Reservations Agents help me with most of my questions and requests?
Our reservations sales agents are well equipped to help you with requests prior to the start of your travel. They can handle your reservation, take your request for one of our special meal services, or assistance services such as traveling with pets or children traveling alone. They can assist you with changes to your itinerary before and during your travel, and they can answer your questions about luggage restrictions and travel documents required for international travel.
- Will Northwest offer me the lowest fare?
Yes. Our reservations sales agents, airport customer service agents and ticket sales agents use a computer program to search for the lowest available fare when you give them your travel itinerary. It's helpful if you can be specific about when you want to travel and whether you have any flexibility in your itinerary.
Please Note: There may be lower fares available through other distribution channels such as Northwest CyberSaver fares on Northwest's web site, www.nwa.com, at the time the fare is quoted.
- Will I be able to check the historical performance of a flight if I am booking online?
When you make a query of an itinerary on nwa.com, we will automatically display the historical on-time performance of each flight in the itinerary (as well as other pertinent information such as aircraft type, total miles, and scheduled flying time).
- Why do airlines sometimes overbook their flights?
Overbooking to certain, pre-determined levels is quite common in the airline industry and helps an airline deal with the frequent occurrence of "no show" passengers, who reserve a seat, but fail to cancel their reservation if they decide not to take the flight. However, the risk of there not being enough seats is quite low. For instance less then 1 per 10,000 Northwest customers are involuntarily denied boarding.
- Will Northwest tell me if they have sold more tickets than there are seats on my flight?
Yes. If you ask at the time you make your reservation, the agent can tell you if the flight has been overbooked, although this seldom means that you would be unable to get a seat on your flight.
- Can Northwest tell me the size of the seat I'll have and how much legroom to expect?
When you make your reservation the agent can tell you the most common seat size and "pitch" (the space between seats) for the aircraft type scheduled for your flight.
Please note: There may be slight seat and pitch variations in certain rows on individual aircraft depending on how the seats have been installed for that particular aircraft and the location of the exit rows.
- Does Northwest offer services for those traveling with special needs?
Yes. We offer a full range of services for various travel situations including travel for people with disabilities and special medical needs, children traveling alone, and pets traveling with or without their owners. Brochures explaining each of these special travel situations are available at Northwest ticket and airport locations, at Northwest's web site at www.nwa.com and from most travel agencies. You can also request an Air Travel For People With Disabilities or Unaccompanied Minor brochure by calling 800-358-3100.
- If I buy my ticket from Northwest, how will I know if my flight is actually on another airline?
Northwest, like most major airlines, has entered into reciprocal agreements with other airlines in the United States and throughout the world to offer you convenient access to destinations not served directly by Northwest. Your Northwest Reservations Agent or ticket agent will advise you if any segment of your itinerary is with one of Northwest's "code share" partners. It's a good idea to check your printed itinerary to confirm the operating carrier and check-in instructions for those flights operated by airlines other than Northwest. Because flight numbers sometimes change, you should also verify flight numbers when you arrive at the airport.
