Best Lawyers in America
For the third consecutive year, Vinson & Elkins has the most lawyers in the United States listed in The Best Lawyers in America, the guide considered by both the legal profession and corporate in-house counsel as a leading resource to legal excellence. The 2005-2006 guide lists 134 Vinson & Elkins lawyers. The Best Lawyers in America is based on a peer-review survey of 15,000 lawyers throughout the country on the legal abilities of lawyers in their specialties.

Capital Inside

Vinson & Elkins is listed #2 in the recent Capitol Inside Texas Lobby Power Rankings 2006. The publication claims "[t]he eyes of Austin" will focus on V&E;'s lobby practice for reasons that include "hall of fame" Joe Bill Watkins, the additions of former Dallas Mayor Ron Kirk and Bill Jones, who "inject new blood" into the firm's lobby practice, and "the recent alliance with all-star lobbyists" Bill Messer and Mike Toomey.
Chambers Global
Vinson & Elkins is named "U.S.A. Energy Law Firm of the Year" by Chambers and Partners at the 2005 Chambers Global Awards.

Selecting V&E; over the eight other short-listed firms, Chambers commented, "Consistently recognized by client surveys and major publications for its global leadership in the energy sector, the firm was a key adviser on several multibillion-dollar transactions in the US in 2004."  V&E; was also one of nine firms short-listed for "U.S.A. Projects Law Firm of the Year."

Chambers is the U.K.-based publisher of the international legal reference Chambers Global: The World's Leading Lawyers.
H Texas Magazine
H Texas magazine’s November 2004 issue includes 23 V&E; lawyers in its “Lawyers on the Fast Track.” Recognized V&E; lawyers include:

International Who's Who of Environment Lawyers
Vinson & Elkins is one of the best represented firms in Texas in The International Who's Who of Environment Lawyers 2004.  Carol E. Dinkins received the most nominations of any lawyer in the state and was referred to as the "dean of the Texan environment Bar."  The "superb" Molly Cagle and the "particularly good" Christopher B. Amandes also received nominations.  V&E; partner Kevin A. Gaynor received a "top tier" nomination in the District of Columbia category.
Texas Monthly
As published in the October 2004 issue of Texas Monthly magazine, 114 V&E; lawyers have been selected as Texas Super Lawyers, more than any other law firm. This prestigious list represents the top five percent of lawyers in the state. In addition, V&E; lawyers were also recognized in the following categories: Top 100 Texas Super Lawyers, Top 50 Female Super Lawyers, Top 100 Dallas/Fort Worth Region Super Lawyers, Top 100 Houston Region Super Lawyers and Top 50 Central and West Texas Region Super Lawyers. The results were compiled from more than 66,000 ballots distributed to lawyers across Texas. Each lawyer was asked to nominate the best of their peers, based on first-hand knowledge. The final results included more than 60 areas of practice.
