Biography
Charez is a senior corporate solicitor whose practice is focused on transactions and projects in the energy industry. Based in the London office, Charez has over ten years experience in the upstream and downstream oil & gas, power and natural resources sectors in the United Kingdom and abroad. In addition to a general corporate and projects practice, including mergers, acquisitions and disposals, joint ventures, project finance and corporate finance, Charez has worked on many different upstream oil & gas agreements, abandonment arrangements, renewable energy projects, and emissions trading developments. He also has experience of the environmental issues affecting the energy industry, including the management of oil spillages.
Charez trained and qualified as a solicitor with Ashurst, has published articles on a variety of energy-related topics and lectures regularly on energy and natural resources issues.

Energy related experience - Acting for BG Group in connection with the development of the Fourth Train of the Atlantic LNG facilities in Trinidad, including work on the development, funding and construction of the project
- Drafting, on behalf of BG Group, the fully-termed gas transportation agreement for the Cross Island Pipeline in Trinidad
- Advising BG Group on the negotiation and drafting of a new joint operating agreement and amendment of the old one in order to transfer the operatorship of the Manatee field to Chevron
- Acting for Marubeni in its acquisition of Energy North Sea, a private equity backed company owning a portfolio of UKCS assets
- Acting for the buyer in connection with the acquisition of assets in the West of Shetlands and Faroe Islands in exchange for other interests
- Advising in relation to the successful defeat of an attempt to exercise pre-emption rights in connection with a North Sea asset disposal
- Advising Ramco Energy on the arrangements for the development and project financing of the Seven Heads gas field, offshore Ireland
- Acting for a lender on the project financing of a UKCS gas field
- Acting for an independent oil company on the acquisition of further interests in the North Sea
- Acting for BG Group on the re-organisation of its LNG business
- Advising on the sale by auction of an interest in a power project in the Indian sub-continent
- Advising WH Energy Services Inc. on the acquisition of a Scottish drilling technologies company

- Acting for Bonus Energy A/S in connection with the construction of the 278MW King Mountain wind farm in Texas
- Acting for DSM Energie NV, the major Dutch natural resources company, in the sale of the upstream assets of its U.K. subsidiary
- Acting on behalf of a major European energy-from-waste business in relation to its first acquisition in the U.K.
- Advising a major international integrated oil company on the operation and legal effect of production payment financing in the North Sea
- Acting for Morrison Middlefield Resources on the sale of companies owning interests in the second largest onshore oilfield in the U.K.
- Drafting and negotiating an abandonment agreement for the Beatrice Field in the North Sea, where only one licensee remained
- Advising an international oil company on the disposal of its hydrocarbon interests, offshore Malaysia
- Negotiating detailed arrangements on behalf of non-operators of a major North Sea oilfield regarding the correct pricing and allocation of imported and owned gas
- Assisting on the proposed part-privatisation of a gas purification, transmission and distribution company in Pakistan
- Drafting and negotiating the agreement for the disposal of International Petroleum Corporation’s U.K. subsidiaries
