Biography
Bill is the trial lawyer of choice for many lawyers and accountants facing malpractice claims. He leads trial teams in significant patent infringement and related claims on both sides of the docket. He continues to try oil and gas cases and is an expert in matters involving pipeline safety. Bill transplants trial techniques from one area of specialty to others. He is the past-chair of the Science and Technology in the Courts Committee of the American College of Trial Lawyers. He lectures on topics dealing with juror expectations and effective presentation of complex information to jurors.

- Won a take-nothing jury verdict for a Big 4 accounting firm in 2004 involving the audit of a failed publicly held company
- Defended a pipeline operator in a brain injury pipeline rupture case in 2004
- Obtained summary judgment dismissing claims of Sunshine Mining against its former Big 4 accounting firm
- Won a take-nothing jury verdict for a Big 4 accounting firm in a $300 million professional malpractice claim growing out of the audit of a publicly held mortgage servicing company
- Won a jury verdict and judgment, and argued successfully appeal affirming findings of sub-surface adverse possession of minerals
- Represents law firms and lawyers in pending malpractice actions in Texas; tried malpractice lawsuit to Texas jury for national law firm involving corporate and bankruptcy law issues; and has defended numerous other claims against lawyers and law firms involving patent, ERISA, antitrust, and litigation advice
- Tried and obtained jury verdict for operator defending claims of improper joint interest billing in $1 million dry hole
- Represented manufacturer of medical devices in patent infringement and related anti-trust litigation in California
- Convinced sitting Federal Judge that a nuclear power plant was personal property in a lawsuit by El Paso Electric against the sale/leaseback purchasers of its Palo Verde nuclear power plant assets ("[O]ne of our new members has the distinction of having persuaded a federal judge that a nuclear power plant is personal property (Laughter);" 75th Annual Meeting of the American Law Institute Proceedings 1998, page 15)
- Defended successfully at trial RICO and conversion claims against a bank accused of conspiring with oil producers
- Handled class action defense for gas supplier in the Panhandle of Texas in antitrust lawsuit involving the pricing of natural gas
- Handled sexual harassment and gender discrimination cases for international management consulting firm
- Represented major private owner/operator of oil, gas, and hazardous liquids in and obtained dismissal of class action litigation seeking injunction under the Pipeline Safety Act
- Defended US Airways in a Harris County lawsuit over the crash of Flight 1016
