Biography
Matt’s principal area of practice is commercial litigation. Matt represents both plaintiffs and defendants in a wide range of commercial disputes, including cases involving claims of lender liability, breach of contract, fraud, negligent misrepresentation, deceptive trade practices, tortious interference, and misappropriation of trade secrets and confidential information.
Matt has significant experience representing financial institutions. He also has significant experience in bankruptcy-related litigation where he has represented debtors and creditors in various contested bankruptcy proceedings.

- Obtained summary judgment on behalf of financial institution on claims by former employee for breach of contract, fraud, and violations of Title VII
- Obtained summary judgment on behalf of bank in case by former bank customer alleging fraud, conspiracy, and breach of fiduciary duty
- Obtained summary judgment on behalf of lender in real estate dispute involving rights and obligations under subordination nondisturbance and attornment agreement
- Part of team that defended stock transfer agent in case involving claims of fraud, negligence, and breach of fiduciary duty
- Represented clients in various cases involving claims of unfair competition, misappropriation of trade secrets and confidential information, and violation of non-solicitation and non-competition agreements
- Represented creditor objecting to confirmation of debtor’s plan of reorganization
- Represented debtor in connection with various contested matters in its bankruptcy proceeding
- Frequently counsels financial institution clients regarding privacy and confidentiality issues encountered when responding to judicial, grand jury, and administrative subpoenas
- Part of team that successfully defended local church, on a pro bono basis, in case alleging breach of a right of first refusal
