Biography
Alan's primary area of practice is corporate finance and securities. He has counseled clients in connection with initial public offerings, strategic alliances, mergers and acquisitions and private placements and registered offerings of debt and equity securities, as well as securities law compliance, corporate governance and other general corporate matters. His representations range from start-ups to mature public companies, investment banking firms and private equity firms. Alan has assisted clients in a broad range of industries, including energy, energy service, financial service, airline, manufacturing, deathcare and software.

  • Assisted Ocean Energy in connection with its $3.5 billion merger with Devon Energy
  • Represented private company in connection with its $1.2 billion acquisition of the general partner of TEPPCO Partners
  • Represented BMC Software in connection with its $1 billion acquisition of Boole and Babbage and $690 million acquisition of New Dimension Inc.
  • Assisted Dynegy in connection with its sale of Northern Natural Gas Pipeline to MidAmerican Energy for $928 million
  • Represented Tom Brown in connection with its $500 million acquisition of Matador Petroleum
  • Assisted Plains All American in connection with its $330 million acquisition of Link Energy
  • Represented Forest Oil Corporation in connection with its $330 million acquisition of The Wiser Oil Company

  • Represented Kayne Anderson MLP Investment Company in connection with investments in Kinder Morgan and Ferrellgas aggregating $90 million
