Biography

Samina’s principal area of practice is litigation. She works on both tort and commercial litigation cases. Her tort practice includes pharmaceutical and tire litigation.

Samina’s commercial litigation practice includes oil and gas, anti-trust, and breach of contract cases. In the oil and gas arena, she has assisted in preparing for motions to strike opposing experts and summary judgment motions. In the anti-trust arena and breach of contract arenas, her experience includes preparing complaints, arbitration briefings, research memorandums, and preparing for depositions of key defendants.

Representative Experience

  • Member of a team that represented a Fortune 100 pharmaceutical company in national products liability litigation involving its prescription weight loss drugs in state and federal court, including federal multi-district litigation
  • Member of a team that represented one of the nation’s largest tire manufacturers in its national products liability litigation in state and federal court, including the federal multi-district litigation;
  • Member of team that represented an accounting firm in a shareholder derivative suit
  • Represented an international bank with U.S. affiliates in responding to a subpoena seeking information in the possession of the international bank
  • Assisted in the successful representation of a railroad company asserting fraud, misrepresentation and breach of contract claims against a Mexican railroad company set for  an AAA administered arbitration under the AAA International Rules that was settled on terms favorable to the client after two days of depositions of opposing client’s key witnesses. 
  • Assisted in the successful defense of a pulp company against claims of fraud, misrepresentation, breach of contract, breach of confidential relationship and related fiduciary duties brought by a marketing company in an AAA administered arbitration under the AAA International Rules. 
  • Member of a team defending an Indian-based steel company against claims brought by a German company seeking to recover debt arising out of a failed joint venture in an ICC administered arbitration.
  • Works pro bono with the American Civil Liberties Union on various civil rights cases.
