Now I Can Die in Peace : How ESPN's Sports Guy Found Salvation, with a Little Help from Nomar, Pedro, Shawshank, and the 2004 Red Sox
by Authors:
Bill Simmons
Hardcover
Average Customer Rating:
A must read for all Sox fans...
Forget about Curt from Boston's review below. Listen to sports radio long enough and he'll call in with some ridiculous rant. I found myself laughing out loud during the entire book, copying sections and faxing to out of state buddies(with the expressed written consent of Major League Baseball). Looking forward to his next epic!!
Great Entertainment
Very funny recollection of the recent history of the Red Sox and growing up along with the team.
Side-splitting
I admit it - I read Simmons religiously and belly-laugh my way thru his columns. I can see how people feel cheated at the number of re-hashed columns in the book, but the book really is a lot more than that. It gives a lot more insight into his human side - growing up sitting on his dad's lap at Celtic games, sitting on the roof of his house as a kid to get better radio reception for Red Sox games, his daily ThC intake, etc. Truly a great, light read for all twenty- and thirty-somethings.
