BIG BEND - New Years 2007
"To the dull mind all nature is leaden. To the illuminated mind
the whole world burns and sparkles with light" -- Ralph Waldo
Emerson
Every year, the same question
gets asked - what are we doing for New Year's Eve? Crowds, unsafe highways and
boring parties keep many of us home. Several years ago, we found that the best
place to spend the New Year is on the river! Join us as we celebrate January 1,
2007 in the canyons of Big Bend Country. We'll have party favors, champagne,
great food and music. You won't have to put up with crowded bars, drunk
drivers, or a messy house to clean.
Saturday, December 30,
2006 Should you choose to arrive the night before our departure date
(most folks do), make arrangements with the Big Bend Motor Inn for overnight
lodging. They are conveniently located near the national park entrance and our
office." Call 800-848-2363 to make reservations. For other lodging suggestions,

Sunday, December 31, 2006 Departure day. We'll
meet at our offices in Terlingua at 8:00 a.m. to pack our gear and leave for
the river. Our journey today takes us into true backcountry wilderness. We'll
stop to explore some side canyons and enjoy a specially prepared river lunch.
Our overnight camp will be set up alongside the Rio Grande, so while you take
time to hike, explore, or just relax, our staff will prepare dinner. Darkness
(and we do mean complete darkness) will kick off our celebration. Champagne and
party favors appear just before midnight. The party ends when you're ready to
quit.
Monday, January 1, 2007 This day finds us
continuing down stream. We'll stop for another river lunch and side canyon trip
before our take-out at mid-afternoon. Returning to our office in Terlingua late
that afternoon.

equipment, tents, waterproof bags, shuttle to and from the river, champagne,
