On Saturday 20 November 2004 the Van Gogh Museum launches an extensive multimedia tour about the life and work of Vincent van Gogh. The Van Gogh multimedia tour, produced by Antenna Audio, incorporates reproductions, stories, photos, letters, drawings, interviews, music and educational games. Innovative technology enables various mediums to be made available on a single handheld computer, the Personal Digital Assistant (PDA).
Twenty of Van Gogh's most important works are featured in the tour. As in the museum, these are presented chronologically in five periods associated with the places in which Van Gogh lived and worked: Holland, Paris, Arles, Saint-Rémy and Auvers-sur-Oise. The periods are shown on a time bar on which icons of the works appear. An introduction is followed by a more detailed exploration of the methods and materials Van Gogh used for that particular work, and provides access to the relevant passages in the artist's correspondence.
The Van Gogh multimedia tour costs € 4 and is available in Dutch and English at the audiotour desk in the central hall of the museum. The Dutch version of the tour is sponsored by promoting partner Rabobank. Rabobank Europas holders (6 million customers) receive a € 2 reduction upon showing their pass.

Partnership Van Gogh Museum-Rabobank
Encouraging Dutch visitors to the Van Gogh Museum is one of the objectives of the five-year partnership of the Van Gogh Museum and Rabobank, which began in January 2003. The Van Gogh Museum and Rabobank also hope to introduce as wide as possible an audience to the works of Van Gogh. This has already resulted, for example, in the Friday evening programmes. The Van Gogh multimedia tour enables visitors to explore the museum's permanent collection in a new and innovative way.
