| 1. | Trophy Salmon and Trout Lake Michigan Fishing, Cool City Charters - Two Rivers, WI

Fishing action along the west coast of Lake Michigan from Two Rivers to Manitowoc has to be down graded a little from very good to good. The main reason is surface water temperatures, and Floridians.
Consistent water temperatures holding steady at around 57 degrees can be found from the beach to 200 feet of water. These steady water temperatures are really scattering the schooling salmon and rainbows we had last week. But when you find them, doubles and triples are common.
With the lake starting to warm up, it’s time to start paying close attention to surface water breaks, and especially thermoclines (sub level breaks).
There’s a few ways to monitor these breaks. Watch your fish finder. If you see constant marks at a certain level that’s probably real close to the temperature break. My video graph shows this as the water density changes, we pick that up on our sounder or use a sub troll unit which monitors your speed and temperature at the ball. Try to fish a little above or right in this break.
The 15-20 fish mornings we had last week dropped to 8-12 fish average this past week into early this week. I blame it all on Floridians.
Last Friday I had the opportunity to fish with a pair of newlyweds from Winter Park, Florida: Steve Gyuricsek and his new bride Tami, and his father Bill from Madison. They flew into Chicago, rented a car to Ludington, took the Badger to Manitowoc, and still wanted to be on the water. The morning started slow and they stated telling a bunch of stories about alligators. I guess it’s a serious problem. People getting hauled in, pets missing, even finding a few in garages. These stories must have transmitted down the rigger cables, into the lateral line of the fish which put them in a feeding frenzy. When the talking was over, the fish started snapping. Three hours of non-stop action sent our friends from the south home with their 15 fish limit, good job guys and girls.
Cool City Charters fished 6 times this past week and held a nice 12 fish per trip average. We worked anywhere from 70-220 feet of water a little south of Two Rivers.
Best baits again this week were a mixture of fly-flasher setups, in white & glow, blue & glow, or chartreuse with matching Screemer Flys. Some new Screemer Spoons: their version of the bumblebee, OZ with Orange Ladder Back, and Oz Double Ladder Back, did a great job off dypsys and high lines. A selection of these baits can be found at Riverfront Liquor or at Seagull Marina. If they don’t have these new spoons yet, ask if they can get them in stock.
