Jennifer Holmes, a financial consultant with the South Asheville office of A.G. Edwards has completed training for the title of Business Services Consultant. Holmes earned the designation after completing the Financial Planning Process and Insurance curriculum from a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) certification program. Financial consultants who are awarded the Business Services Consultant designation have in-depth knowledge of the needs of business owners and are better equipped to address those needs.

On Monday June 26 Sam's Club of Asheville will be hosting the First Annual Golf Fund Raiser for the Children's Miracle Network. It will be held at Broadmoor Golf Course. We are still accepting teams and hole sponsorships for this event. First Merchant Services is hosting a seminar at the Chamber on June 7, from 3-5 p.m. This is an education session for business owners and soon to be business owners on reading your processing statements, knowing your rates, knowing your investment, and great programs for your business.

The Western Carolina Business Journal (WCBJ) is accepting nominations for outstanding achievement for women in business. Nominees should be owners or employees of for-profit businesses operating in Western North Carolina, who have shown creativity, leadership, or outstanding innovation during 2005. WCBJ will accept nominations until 5 p.m. on June 22. Forms are available at www.wcbj.biz and www.wlos.com. Nominations must include a color photo and can be snail-mailed or dropped off to WCBJ, or emailed to nominations@wcbj.biz.

The Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to finding the cause and cure of children’s brain tumors, will be offering paper pinups for sale at all Ingles locations from May 22 – June 30. These donations will help all children and their families as they deal with the diagnosis of a brain tumor. For more information, please contact the PBTF at (828) 665-6891 or visit www.pbtfus.org.

Riverlink announces Party on the River set for Saturday, June 17 at Southern Waterways. The event will feature live music from the Firecraker Jazz Band and the Rib Tips. They will also hold a raffle with fantastic prizes including a mountain bike from Liberty Bikes, spa packages, dining and theater packages and a sea kayak from Diamond Brand Outdoors.
