BIG TEX

Ever seen a 52-foot tall, talking cowboy? You can meet the big guy we call 'Big Tex' during the State Fair of Texas, Sept. 29 – Oct. 22, 2006. If you can't wait till then — or maybe you live too far away — click here and discover, among other things, Big Tex wears size 70 boots!

Have you ever visited a farm? Well, you can at the State Fair of Texas!

Two young boys like to stand tall, like Big Tex.

Young buckaroos wait to stir up some dirt at the PeeWee Stampede.

Girls enjoy their chores and learn about country life at Little Hands on the Farm.

Imaginations soar when kids 'become' circus performers, including tightrope walkers and lions, at the Backyard Circus.

The beautiful animals on the 1914 Dentzel carousel offer a colorful ride for kids of all ages.

"LITTLE HANDS ON THE FARM"

You'll learn just what it takes to run a farm. Gather eggs, plant seeds, dig up a vegetable and milk a cow. Sell your crops and receive "money" for your work that you can spend at the grocery store — your final stop in the exhibit. Free. Sponsored by Bank of America, Dreyer's Ice Cream, Minyard Food Stores.

Have you dreamed of riding in a rodeo? It's possible at the State Fair of Texas!

PEE WEE STAMPEDE

You might want to practice your riding and roping skills before you arrive at the Fair this year. We'll provide the stick horse, a rope and cheering crowds. You'll be showing your skills by ropin' and "tying down" bales of hay in the Ranch Arena. Grab a hat and bandana and have some fun. Free. Sponsored by CVS/pharmacy.

You probably haven't seen pigs quite like the ones in the Pan American Arena!

PIG RACES

See pigs fly in three shows daily (3:30, 4:15 and 5 p.m.). Join us in the Pan American Arena. Free.

Playing Circus is so much fun at the State Fair of Texas!

BACKYARD CIRCUS

You can join the circus without running away from home. An imaginary world awaits you during your visit to the Backyard Circus. You might be one of the lucky ones chosen from the audience to perform 'under the big top.' Free daily. Sponsored by Schepps.

Enjoy watching birds from your own backyard? Visit the State Fair and watch birds from all over the world!

BIRDS OF THE WORLD

Get ready for a great show. Watch as birds fly over your head and perform tricks. You'll see birds from all over the world and even have a chance to take a close-up look at a few. Free shows 4 times daily in the Band Shell. Sponsored by Kroger.

Everyone loves a parade!

STARLIGHT PARADE

This isn't just any parade — it's the Starlight Parade and it happens each night during the State Fair of Texas. You'll enjoy the magical floats, bright lights and beautiful horses. Each night at 7:15 p.m.

What is a trip to the Fair without a ride on the carrousel?

Stop by Kid Way during your visit to the State Fair of Texas. A magical carrousel with 66 horses and two chariots will sweep you off your feet. Each ride in Kid Way is priced separately. Buy your State Fair coupons at nearby coupon booths.
