I am 25, recently purchased my first home in 2005 of June, and while doing so, my father fell sick. While being in the hospital for 3 and half months the bills kept rolling. I was working two jobs, but it still didn't seem enough, so I fell prey to the Internet Pay day Loans. I am at work right now and received a voice mail from "Ellen" from United Legal. Curious on what steps I need. I also received a call from "Pay Services" from Jacksonville, FL. the other day (June and has been constantly harassed since. I have requested that I set up a payment plan since I get paid on the 15th and last of every month, but the guy wanted $1100 by twelve noon and it was 9:30 when they called! HELP ME!!!! _________________ Register today to encash debtcc points.
Faith, be very careful while dealing with United legal. There have been many complaints against them for their illegal collections. Read some of the threads posted by members on this collection agency.
Do not pay anything to the collection agency until the debt has been validated by them in writing. They are required by federal laws to prove their authorization before making the collection attempts.
Read this page on debt validation and know your legal rights as per the FDCPA while dealing with the collection agencies.
Don't let them get you upset! Have you already defaulted on the loans? Have you closed your checking account or stopped payment on the debits from your payday companies?
