Viagra Drug Uses
Viagra is taken for the treatment of male impotence. It enhances the patient’s ability to achieve and maintain an erection during sexual activity. Viagra cannot guard you against sexually transmitted diseases, HIV included.
Viagra How Taken
Viagra is a tablet to be taken by mouth. Take it as needed 1 hour prior to sexual activity. Yet, it can be taken anytime from 4 hours to 30 minutes prior to sexual activity. Do not take it more than a tablet a day. You should not take more or less of it, or take it more frequently than your doctor has prescribed.
Viagra Warnings/Precautions
Before you take Viagra, inform your doctor if you have ever had a heart attack, stroke, or critical irregular heartbeats in the last half year; suffer from coronary artery disease; have ever had heart failure; have high or low blood pressure; suffer from angina; have liver or kidney problems; have a stomach ulcer; have ever experienced blood problems, among them cockle cell anemia or leukemia; suffer from a bleeding disorder; have retinitis pigmentosa (an inherited condition of the eye); suffer from a condition that can cause prolonged and painful erections, such as cancer of the bone marrow, sickle cell anemia, or leukemia; have a physical deformity of the penis such as penile curvature (Peyronie's disease); or are using another medication for the treatment of impotence. It may not be possible for you to take Viagra, or your dosage may need to be adjusted or your treatment closely monitored if you have any of the conditions mentioned above. Even though Viagra is not intended for women use, it is in the FDA pregnancy category B, which means this product is not likely to cause harm to the fetus. Women should not use Viagra. It is not known if Viagra appears in breast milk. Patients who are over 65 years of age are more prone to side effects from Viagra. You may be then prescribed a smaller dose of this drug.
Viagra Missed Dose
You take Viagra as needed, that is why missing a dose is unlikely.
Viagra Possible Side Effects
Similarly to all other medicines, Viagra can cause a number of side effects. These symptoms are normally mild to moderate and typically last up to a few hours. Some of these unwelcome consequences will more likely occur with higher dosages. The most frequent side effects from Viagra are headache, upset stomach, and flushing of the face. Less commonly patients report temporary changes in color vision (like trouble differentiating between blue and green objects or seeing a blue tinge to things), eyes getting more light-sensitive, or blurred vision. Rarely, patients may suffer from an erection lasting many hours. Call a doctor immediately if you ever get an erection that will not go down after 4 hours. If this condition is not remedied instantly, your penis may suffer permanent damage. Such conditions as stroke, heart attack, irregular heartbeats and death have occurred rarely in men using Viagra. Most, however not all, of these men had heart conditions prior to taking this medication. It is impossible to verify whether these incidents were directly associated with Viagra.
Viagra Storage
Viagra should be kept out of the reach of children. It should be stored in its original container. Viagra’s storage temperature is 25°C (77°F), but excursions are permitted to 15-30°C (59-86°F).
Viagra Overdose
Seek emergency medical care. Symptoms of overdosing on Viagra are not known, but they are expected to include dizziness, chest pain, swelling of the ankles or legs, and an irregular heartbeat.
Viagra More Information
Patients who take any medications that contain nitrates – either on a regular basis or as needed – should never use Viagra. If Viagra is taken in combination with any nitrate medication or recreational drug that contains nitrates, the patient’s blood pressure could rapidly plunge to an unsafe level. You could feel dizzy, faint, or even get a heart attack or stroke. Nitrates are contained in a large number of prescription drugs used for the treatment of angina. Viagra is only intended for patients who have erectile dysfunction. It is not intended for newborn children, children or women. Make sure no one else takes your Viagra. It must solely be used with the supervision of your health care provider.
