Future deckhand Hayden born 6/10/06
I've been a little behind in posting fishing reports lately but we've had a few weather days and I've been out of the lineup for a few as well since Hayden decided to show up a month early. Kevin and Ben have been doing well on the water (I'll get some new pix up soon).
Hayden decided he was fully cooked at 35 weeks and we can only speculate at this point, but think he just couldn't wait any longer to get out and get on the water... He weighed in at 6 pounds even and was 20 inches long (good size for the early run). Everyone is home now and doing fine. Hayden can hardly wait to have his first photo taken with a big halibut...

Mike, Steve, Kevin, Daniel, Chris, Jason, Todd, Levi, Dale and Chris (deckhand in back) show off a great catch.
Today was my buddy Chris' last fishing excursion as a single man (he's tying the knot on Saturday) and fortunately he went out in fine form. With the light current and mellow tides the action today was a bit slower than previous days but we had a steady bite for most of the day. We released some smaller fish and returned to the dock with beautiful load of halibut. Steve was the star angler of the day landing two of the days biggest fish. Daniel and Todd finished the day with a double - 72 pounds and 91 pounds. In all we had 6 fish in the 60-90 pound class and a load of fish from 20-35.
Congratulations Chris and Darlene....
HEY EVERYBODY - THE BITE IS ON!!! The last week has brought some of the best catches of halibut so far this year. We have also been finding some king salmon on the halibut grounds making for excellent action and a nice mixed bag. The halibut fishing should remain hot as the next two weeks are historically some of the best halibut fishing we have here in Seward... The weather has been nothing short of incredible and the ocean has been calm. We have plenty of space available in the next couple of weeks so if you are thinking about taking a halibut trip now is the time to go. Give us a call at 888-385-1312 and we'll help you set up your charter..... FISH-ON!!!

B.W. and Bob each caught a nice king to go along with CJ's 155 pound halibut today
Another awesome day on the water! Today we loaded the boat with halibut and caught a couple nice kings at the same time. CJ boated our biggest halibut of the season so far, weighing in at 155 pounds. We all snickered a bit when he pulled his new secret lure out at the beginning of the day but CJ got the last laugh when he landed the 155 pound whopper. Both Bob and BW have landed too many halibut to count in the last three days so today they were totally stoked to each land a beautiful king, BW's weighed in at 30 pounds. The rest of the crew had a busy day wrestling with fish in the 25 to 85 pound range.

BW, Ryan, Rob, Bob, Eric, Steve, and Ed show off their slabs...
The "Bobs" were back for day two on the Pursuit and picked up where they left off the day before. Today the fish were big and fiesty and when all was said and done we had an awesome load of fish including 6 in the 65-90 pound range. Once again today Bob S. started things off by slamming a nice halibut on the jig. The rest of the crew quickly got into the act and soon everyone had a fish in the boat. From there we got a little more selective releasing smaller fish... Eric did a great job landing a 67 pounder on the light rod. Even Steve managed to get into the frey landing a fish in the 85 pound range on the jig...

Day 3 for the Petrowski boys
Capt. Kevin has done his best to wear these guys out for the last few days. They have caught an incredible amount of fish and today was no exception. The fish of the day was in the 120 pound range while the rest were in the 20 - 30 pound range. A great trip was capped by trolling up a nice king salmon.

The "Bobs" show off their fishing prowess...
We had one heck-of-a group of guys named Bob on the boat today and they proved that "Bob can fish"... After we recovered from a brief bout with a bananna, we found steady halibut action and landed fish up to 95 pounds and a nice bright king salmon. Everyone was able to keep a couple halibut and release a few too. The halibut fishing is picking up and next few weeks should be prime halibut fishing.

The crew from the Pursuit displays their awesome combo load of halibut and king salmon
Another killer day on the water found us trolling for kings in the morning and hooking up to some big halibut in the afternoon. We boated five beautiful bright kings and lost a few others. These fish are fresh ocean-bright beauties that fought like champs. Chad and Dave dueled for largest flat fish in the afternoon with Dave taking top honors with a 94 pound halibut besting Chad's 84 pounder. We hauled in a couple other fish in the 50-60 pound range and several nice chickens to round out our day.

Day 1 for the gang from New York
Capt. Kevin had another great day today on the ProFish. The group from New York loaded up on some nice halibut and upped the seasons biggest fish with a 153 pounder. They'll be back for two more days of fun, sun, and flat-fish...

The gang on the Pursuit with a nice batch of halibut and a couple kings
We found good action on halibut today after waiting out the current in the morning. We brought home fish in the 20 - 55 pound range and after halibut fishing found a couple nice kings to top off the day. Megan and Dave each did a great job landing a bright king.

Cookie-cutter halibut...
The crew on the Pursuit today loaded up on some nice flatties... Several fish in the 60-70 pound range were the highlight to an action packed day. Pat wrestled a nice king up to the boat and the guys took turns with the jigs and light bait rig to catch a limit of halibut.
