Light tackle enthusiasts and fly fishermen enjoy our Alaska saltwater salmon fishing trips for the sheer action they can provide. Wiley ocean-bright salmon often feed within sight of the surface at times giving anglers a chance to see their query, watch them bite, and set the hook. This is a unique Alaska saltwater fishing experience guaranteed to make your heart skip a beat.

Anglers who are familiar with trolling for salmon will enjoy the added action of "mooching", actively fishing with rod in hand and being able to feel the bite, opposed to trolling - where the boat does most of the work for you.

Mooching is quite simply drift fishing with pieces of cut herring attached to a single razor-sharp hook, trailing behind a small crescent sinker. When fish are tightly schooled no other technique can provide the action or excitement of mooching.

During Alaska salmon fishing trips targeting Silvers, anglers may also find themselves hooked into a mighty Chinook "King" Salmon that has been cruising the coastline in search of food. More common are Pink Salmon which run at the same time as the silvers. These smaller cousins provide a modest fight and are good to eat when pulled fresh from the ocean.

Alaska Fishing Tours

In Alaska, all halibut fishing charters are not equal. Many days, the difference between having a banner halibut fishing trip and having an average one is the quality of equipment, boat, and tackle employed in the pursuit of these stealthy flat-fish. Every day, large Alaska halibut are lost to failed tackle and mistakes by the crew, leaving weary anglers with nothing except the tale of the one that got away.

That's a sad story we try not to tell. We use only the finest equipment available for your Alaska halibut fishing trip. Because when you hook-up to a fish that feels like the bottom of the ocean you want to be confident that you have every advantage possible... New, high quality G. Loomis and Cal-Star rods, durable Shimano reels spooled with strong Tuff-line Plus, indestructible Top Shot gaffs, and a boat that has plenty of room to fight the fish. We provide the best equipment available for your alaska halibut fishing trip.

We pride ourselves in providing anglers with equipment that is meticulously maintained to ensure that your battle with a trophy Alaska halibut is not won or lost by a failed knot or a straightened gaff. Whether this is your first halibut fishing trip in Alaska or you are an experienced veteran you shouldn't settle for mediocre, we don't.

Alaska Lingcod Fishing Trips

Hidden among the underwater rock pinnacles of Alaska's North Gulf Coast is one of the regions most voracious predators. Feared by rockfish and savored by local anglers, a lingcod is a fish with an attitude. Alaska lingcod are slender bodied bottom-dwellers with cryptic brown coloration, large pectoral fins, a huge head, and a gaping bucket-like mouth with rows of sharp backward sloping teeth. They are able to rely on surprise to capture fairly mobile prey. Lingcod can grow large with fish of 50 pounds landed regularly. Although lingcod are sometimes caught by anglers while fishing for halibut, adding some time to target lingcod during your fishing trip in alaska can be a great bonus.

Our Alaska lingcod fishing trips target these savvy predators where they live - in the rocks. Lingcod fishing trips are a great experience for anglers seeking a hands on fishing adventure (and a slight arm workout). Working a jig over rocky bottom structure can be a bit of a challenge but its not without reward. Lingcod are voracious and somewhat sedentary ambush predicators, making them relatively easy to hook but challenging to land. Lingcod are great eating fish with white flesh that closely resembles halibut.

Lingcod season opens July 1 and many types of colorful rockfish are available year round in the Seward area.
