bitters bottles

1. 1 9 1/2" tall, orange amber glass, tooled top & smooth base log cabin form, embossed on front shoulder: " HOLTZERMANNS / PATENT / STOMACH / BITTERS " Has 90% faded front label. The other three sides have logs and windows. Bottle is in mint condition with no chips, cracks, dings, or stain.

2. INDIAN QUEEN BITTERS Ring / Ham # B224. 12 1/8" tall circa 1868 -1875. Lt. golden amber color at the top through bust and then lt. orange amber to the base. Embossed: "Brown's / Celebrated / Indian Herb Bitters - Patented / Feb 11, 1868" Smooth base with inward rolled lip. Perfect bottle except for a in the making, 3/4" stress crack that runs from the right hand into her wrist. This is very hard to see, you probably would not see it unless I told you about it. This does not take away anything from this beautiful bottle. Great Color!

3. Ring / Ham # H104. ( shorter ) 9 3/4" tall, globular round with a bulge in neck at the shoulder and a pedestal base. yellow - olive green color. applied lip! Embossed on front: " HERTRICHS BITTER / Eimziger Fabrikant / HAN'S HERTRICH HOF / Gesetzlich Antique bottle tradergeschutzt " A great looking bottle in n-mint condition. The only problem is a small bruise on the front of the bulge in neck and a pin point one on the heal of the pedestal. This does not take anything away from this bottle at all, just mentioned for accuracy! No stain, chips, or scratches. Nice whittle to the glass and long stretch lines in the neck add character to this piece.

4. 9 3/4" tall, cabin shape with 6 logs above a label space. Dark amber in color with lighter amber spots in the shoulder and center area of the bottle. Nice coloration. Smooth base with an applied lip. Embossed on the front roof panels : "S T Drakes / 1860 Plantation / X Bitters" On rear roof panels : "Patented / 1862" On two roof panels. Near mint condition with no chips, dings or stain. As with many of the Drake bottles, there is a in the making stress crack in the lip. This is only mentioned for accuracy and is very hard to see. Does not take anything away from this piece. A nice cabin shaped bottle!

5. 10" tall, cabin shape bottle with 6 logs above a label space. Orange amber in color with lighter amber color in the outside corners and roof panels of the bottle. Nice color! Smooth base with an applied lip. Embossed on the front roof panels : "S T Drakes / 1860 Plantation / X Bitters" On rear roof panels : "Patented 1862" On same roof panel. Near mint condition with no chips, cracks, dings or stain. There are two burst bubbles, one on the left rear corner and the other about 1" to the right of the first one on the lower rear roof panel. You have to feel them, very hard to see. Some light base wear. Nice bottle that would grace any shelf!

6. 10" tall, cabin shape bottle with 6 logs above a label space. Light orange amber in color with lighter honey amber color in the outside corners of the bottle. Nice light color! Smooth base with an applied lip. Embossed on the front roof panels : "S T Drakes / 1860 Plantation / X Bitters" On rear roof panels : "Patented 1862" On same roof panel. Mint condition with no chips, cracks, dings or stain. Lip has a uneven dent in it. Not a chip! It is a in manufacturing crease. Has under the base wear, typical of this age of bottle.

medicine bottles

1. ME-1 U. S. A. HOSPITAL BOTTLE 6 3/4" tall, clear glass that is turning purple. Made in a three part mold, this bottle has a very crude applied ring top with a smooth base that is uneven so the bottle rocks. Embossed on shoulder : " U. S. A. / HOSP DEPT " A nice civil war era bottle, it has some nice large bubbles and character to the glass. The bottle does have 5 light scuff marks on the front, a small flake of glass is missing on the very bottom edge and has a spot of light haze on the inside of the bottle on the shoulder behind the embossing. Only noted for accuracy, this is still a nice, rare civil war era bottle that displays mint.

2. ME-2 APPLIED TOP WESTERN MED. 6" tall, bright aqua glass, applied top with a smooth base, rectangle shape with camphor corners and 4 sunken panels. Embossed on the front panel : " PRATT'S / ABOLITION OIL ". On the reverse : " FOR / ABOLISHING PAIN " Note, the S in "abolishing" is backwards! This bottle is in mint condition with nice crude glass typical of the western glass houses. This bottle only has a couple of light haze spots! No chips, cracks, scratches, or dings. A nice early Sacramento California medicine bottle with an applied lip.

3. 8 3/4" tall, light orange amber with yellow amber in the shoulder area, square shape, Western bottle with a smooth base and a ABM lip. Three of the four panels are embossed. First panel : "Celro - Kola Co Portland, Ore." second panel : (in fancy script) "Celro - Kola" third panel : (in fancy script) "Celro - Kola". Super mint condition with no chips, cracks, dings, stain or scratches. A rare bottle, I have only seen a few of these.

4. COBALT WESTERN MEDICINE. 4 7/8" tall, light cobalt blue in the shoulder area tapering down to a darker blue, tooled ring lip with a smooth base, rectangle shape with camphor corners and 1 sunken front panel. Embossed on the front panel only: " WISDOM'S ROBERTINE ". This bottle is said to come from the Sacramento, California area. Bottle is near mint with some spotty inside dirt that looks like it would clean with some TLC and a couple of very light hazy spots on the outside of the bottle. These are noted for accuracy only and does not take anything away from this piece at all.

drug store bottles

1. 9 3/4" tall, round soda form, bright yellow green color. ABM crown top. Embossed on front: " THE OWL DRUG CO. / Owl on pedestal / trade mark / SAN FRANCISCO / NEW YORK, CHICAGO. " All lettering is in fancy script. No chips, cracks, stain . Has one pin point blemish on the pestle just under the owls foot. Other wise bottle is in n-mint condition. A wonderful color and a great strike on the embossing!

2. 8 1/4" tall, light orange amber glass, round shape with long tapering shoulder, tooled ring lip and a smooth base. Embossed on the front: " picture of a one winged owl sitting on a mortar & pestle " near mint condition, only a few light scratches are visible. Also has good strong embossed Owl. This was a bottle that held peroxide and was sold by the Owl Drug Co.

3. 3 1/2" tall, yellow amber color, rectangle shape, tooled ring lip and a smooth base. Embossing reads : " 6 th & ALDER Sts. / FRANK NAU / DRUGGIST / PORTLAND, ORE. " Bottle has spots of stain and haze but no chips, cracks, dings, or scratches. It would tumble clean. A nice color western drug bottle.

4. 6" tall, oval shape with a front flat panel that is sunken in. Clear glass, seam over ABM bottle. Embossed on front: " THE N. E. WILSON CO. INC. / PHARMACISTS / VIRGINIA ST. OPP. P. O. / PHONE 425 / RENO, NEVADA. " Near mint condition with no chips, cracks, dings, or scratches. Just a very light front and back haze to the glass that looks like would clean with a good scrubbing. A few large air bubbles in the glass. A nice Nevada drug store bottle!

5. 5 1/2" tall, Rectangle shape, clear glass (turning purple). Embossed on front: " 3 IV " near shoulder " POWELL'S / PRESCRIPTION / PHARMACY / REDDING, CAL. " Base has " W T CO. USA " A nice bottle from a small (was then) Northern California town. Bottle is in near mint condition! Two pin point pings on the heal are the only problem. Only noted for accuracy and does not take anything away from the beauty of this bottle.
