Informations
to Granada city

GRANADA is surely one of the most beautiful cities in Spain, situated as it is between the fertile plain known as the 'Vega de Granada' and the snow-capped Sierra Nevada. From this backdrop, the city offers its various faces to the visitor. The Albaizyn, which is the oldest quarter, is a labyrinth of narrow, stepped lanes that lead you past houses decorated with flowers to a succession of small and lively squares. Here the Arab inheritance of Spain has remained alive. The famous Moorish palace of the Alhambra on the hill opposite, with its gardens fresh with running water, appears like a fairy-tale dream from the Thousand-and One Nights. A mixture of art and legend and a celebration for the senses.

Alhambra und Sierra Nevada

Present-day Granada is home to one of the largest universities of Spain and attracts students from all over the world. The cultural attractions are many and various. In the caves of the Sacramonte, the gypsy quarter, the Flamenco tradition is alive and vigorous and many of its outstanding interpreters are to be found here.

Alhambra

Local Fiestas are celebrated throughout the year and there are several different international Festivals. Granada is a vital and colourful city with a rich history and that open-hearted generosity of spirit which is so typical of Andalucia.
