CONNECTIONS: This is the newest release of the Connections theme as of April 17th 2005. There are some minor corrections to the theme originally sent to Alex King’s competition and we also added a static page template, as well as a comments template.
I have been receiving a considerable number of emails from people who can’t find out how to edit the links in the top bar. So here’s how:
In order to edit the links in the top, you need to find the header template in your theme editor area inside WordPress admin (Presentation>>Theme Editor) . Then edit the links accordingly inside the html code. The links already have the code, so you’ll just have to edit the link names if you want to change them and replace the “#” signs with the corresponding urls. I hope this helps.
FLEUR-DE-LYS: This is the default Fleur-de-Lys theme, officially and initially released at WPThemes.info, where Sadish and I partner. Fleur has 3 different color schemes, but this is the only one that is ready for WP 1.5 so far.

Estou iniciando hoje meu blog e gostaria de agradecer pelo lindo tema que tomei a liberdade de utilizar (alterei apenas a imagem de top). Mais uma vez obrigado.

how very strange, i had been reading a MT vs WP debate yesterday and decided firstly to start a blog (are you ever too old to blog!?) and also to go with WP this morning.
your connections theme was the first to catch my eye so i downloaded it. now strangely, 12 hours and 100’s of clicks later, quite perchance, i seem to have actually stumbled upon your very site. what a very happy coincidence!

I’d like to convert your connections theme to b2evolution. Is that ok with you? Of course you’ll be credited with the original theme.
July 19th, 2005 at 12:00 am
Congrats on the win at AlexKing, I like your skin a lot. I don’t know how easy it is to port from MovableType to Wordpress, however, but I’ll definitely bookmark this site in case I do.
July 28th, 2005 at 8:00 pm
Hi, Graham, I guess replied this to you by email, but just for the record, yes, you can poort the theme to b2 and I’d appreciate it if when you’re done you post about it here:

Thanks much!

Any chance you’ll create an archives.php file to supplement the rest of the theme?
August 8th, 2005 at 11:04 am
Hi like matt i’m also using blogsome, followed his little tutorial about the porting thing but i’ve also combined “fast track” with “connections” hope you don’t mind
thanks

Patty, thanks for Connections! My blog uses your template now and I love it.
I wanted to display categorized links. I modified the theme’s index.php use “get_links_list()” instead of “get_links()”
But when I do, I get a big ugly bullet next to the link category.
How would I alter the style.css file to fix this? I would be deeply grateful.
August 11th, 2005 at 5:31 pm
Anyone? There are more details on this issue here: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/41454#post-233950
Thank you!

Great theme I have to say!
However, I ran into a small problem:
How could I show the sub-categories? I couldn’t get it shown on my sidebar.
Thanks!
August 15th, 2005 at 6:45 am
Oh well, I managed to get the subcategories shown up. But the bullet is just not in the right place
Any way to fix it?

I was bored, so I converted the Connections theme to myspace. The best I could do with a few hours and limited HTML structure. Not meant to be validated, so I could care less, actually:

hi patricia! i’d really love your theme to work on mine…well i modified it and im hoping you can help me with my sidebar.
i think the problem started when i’ve used a different size for the sidebarnav_top and bottom. ive adjusted the width but it’s not working. can you point me what part of the CSS to edit this?
also, i want to put the_excerpt tag on the index file. where can i insert this tag? thanks for the help!
September 11th, 2005 at 8:54 am
im sorry, i forgot to tell you…please switch the theme to Scream 1.2 beta…thanks!
September 12th, 2005 at 12:56 pm
Hi Patricia!
I absolutely LOVE this theme and appreciate all the hard work you’ve put into this. THANK You!!
But I’ve got to ask though - is there any way to keep the browser text size setting from throwing off the all the links and everything in the side column? I thought being CSS that the browser text size setting wouldn’t affect this, but it does and I’d love to figure out a way to bring that back under control.
I don’t know much about CSS, but I’ll play with this myself and see if I can figure out a workaround.
Thanks so much!

Connections is great theme. I’m playing with it on a new blog. But for the life of me… where on earth is the “Meta” section tossed into the bottom of the sidebar!!?? I’m not exactly a newbie to WP themes or WP programming in general, but I can’t seem to locate this damn section. Arggh.
The last thing in sidebar.php is bloginfo(’comments_rss2_url’);. Footer.php has nothing relevant… What a mystery. Can you clue me in?
thanks, -wayne
October 13th, 2005 at 4:32 am
OK, at last I found it… too many different template files opened in BBEdit. Over and over I kept looking at another site’s (another theme’s even) index.php file. Sorry. Just delete both my comments and forget it ever happened…

wanted to give credit where its due, I downloaded your WP Theme last week and modified the front end to match my site.
I am a web designer, not a developer, and as such the code needed to drive a blog is beyond me. I just wanted to thank you and let you know that your code is very well done and no problems.
If you have any questions about any of the changes I have made to keep the BLOG consistent with my site, let me know.
Again, thank you for a very well laid out Blog. I highly recommend your theme for anyone needing a WP Blog!

[…] This is my first post! I just installed and did some minor customizing to this WordPress-based blog. WordPress is a fairly sophisticated open source blogging platform that is freely available for anyone to use and modify. Thank you WordPress. I would also like to give thanks Patrici Müller for her efforts in creating (and sharing!) the Connections theme being used here. […]

Bom dia! I have just started playing with Wordpress and thought your theme looked the most professional on offer, so installed it. However, I was totally confused by the header bar - none of the links worked (About, Archives, Links and Contact). I guess that these have to be set up manually by editing header.php.
Is that right?
Thanks.
Tchau!
Richard.

[…] If anyone who worked for me ever attempted a double simultaneous software upgrade, I’d fire them. But as I’m the boss of me, I can do whatever I like on my blog. Last night I upgraded the blogging software to Wordpress 2.0 and moved the Blog Theme from Connections to Connections Reloaded. Huge kudos to Matt and Donncha and all the others at Wordpress for the trouble free upgrade and to Ajay for doing such a slick improvement to Connections. […]

[…] My good friend, Adam Freetly, won an award for his very sweet theme, Disconnected, which is a heavy modification of vanilla mist’s connections. I say “heavy modification” because to the average onlooker Adam’s theme really looks nothing like connections. At any rate, it’s very cool that his design won for best two column design. I know he’s super happy about it too . The award is well deserved, disconnected is a quality theme. […]
