The 20 acre park's interpreted trails allow visitors to experience living samples of Costa Rica's native ecosystems: tropical humid forest, tropical dry forest and Central Valley native forest. In the park's facilities you can learn about our planets biodiversity, research and development of new products: medicines, cosmetics, and nutritional and agricultural products. Participants also learn about Costa Rica's conservation efforts and the creation of national parks, biological reserves and other protected areas.
Rain Forest Aerial Tram:
It is a unique eco-tourism and research facility that takes visitors floating through the rainforest canopy, with its hanging garden of plants and animals high in the tops of tropical trees. The 2.600-meter (app. 8,530 ft.) tram ride takes about 90 minutesThe canopy is home to two thirds of all rainforest species, and the Aerial Tram site, on the northern border of Braulio Carrillo National Park, possesses one of the richest canopy communities in the world. The trail design features three kilometers of serpentine paved trails and viewing platforms that allow visitors to experience and photograph the forest and the awesome power of four majestic waterfalls from a number of exciting perspectives. La Paz Waterfall Gardens features also a Hummingbird Garden, Serpentarium, frog pound, small acuarium and a large enclosed Butterfly Observatory covering 18,000 square feet and towering 50 feet in height, with a collection of ten species of the most colorful butterflies found in Costa Rica.
La Paz Waterfall Gardens:
Poás Volcano is the most visited park in the Costa Rican National Park system. It features two impressive craters: one active and one that holds a lovely Crater Lake. The massive active crater often has sulfuric smoke rising out of the boiling, muddy lake on its bottom, while the beautiful crater lagoon is surrounded by lush cloud forest, with species of birds and plants native to the volcano. The road to the park passes quaint villages, coffee plantations, dairy farms and spectacular views, and when finally in the park, we are surrounded by lush, unique vegetation.
