Charley Hoffman and Ed Cuff Jr. Winners of the 2005 Straight Down Fall Classic
The Straight Down Fall Classic is played the week following the PGA's Tour Championship and has undoubtedly become the company's marquee event. In its' 8th year, company owner Michael Rowley's vision when creating the event back in 1997 was to set up an environment that matched both the philosophies and the culture of Straight Down. With less focus on competition and more attention given to fun and comradery, the Fall Classic has quickly become the favorite event for those who've participated.
Although the event has been highlighted by PGA professionals like Jeff Brehaut, Fred Couples, John Daly, Tom Lehman, Dennis Paulson, Tom Pernice, Jr., Don Pooley, and Loren Roberts among others, its' main purpose is give back to our club professionals….to thanks them for the support that they've given to Straight Down. They have helped us become who we are today.
With the field limited to only 60 teams, entry to the better ball, pro/scratch format is by invitation only.
The 2005 Fall Classic was held at San Luis Obispo Country Club, November 12-13. To read more about the 2005 Fall Classic in the San Luis Obispo Telegram Tribune, click here. To view an article in the San Diego Union Tribune, click here.
