You are unlikely to be compensated if any items are confiscated at security control and nothing that has been taken will be returned to you. Hand luggage allowances should be checked with your airline prior to packing. A general guide is that hand baggage should be between 5 and 7 kilos at most with dimensions not exceeding 450mm high, by 350mm wide and 200mm deep. Most airlines have a hand baggage measurement gauge at check-in. Diabetics or others who need to use syringes for medical reasons must prove the medical necessity to take them in hand luggage. You may wish to phone the airline in advance to find out what they require as proof of your medical condition.
