Horse Watches

There are a number of notification services online that provide the ability to track horses for free and send an e-mail when that horse is entered to run in a race. These services are an invaluable tool for handicappers and owners who want to keep tabs on certain horses.

  • Stable Alert
From Bloodstock Research. Stable Alert is probably the most timely and reliable of the horse watch services. Especially with reguard to workout information. There's a free horse watch that lets you track specific horses and a trainer watch which will let you follow specific trainers.

They also have a subscription based sire and dam watch that'll let you follow specific sires/dams and their offspring.

  • Horse Watch/StableMail
The original from the DRF. The basic service allows you to follow horses, trainers, races, and carryovers. With the Horse Watch, you can enter a horse name and will be allowed to enter notes for that horse. You can then select if you'd like to receive entries, result, or workout information for that horse.

Carryover watch will notify you of large exotic carryovers. If the Pick-six carryover at your local track is above a certain amount, you'll get an e-mail.

Race watch will let you look out for specific race conditions including class, distance, surface, etc. This can be useful for those who like to bet certain kinds of races.

Finally, trainer watch will let you follow a specific trainer.

All these services require that you sign up for a free membership.

  • Virtual Stable
Provided by Equibase & Trackmaster. Virtual Stable will allow you to track horses entered in a specific race. It's quite easy to use and requires that you sign up first. It's free and allows you to keep track of notes for all of your horses. Users have the option of following workouts or results.
