Centerpiece CategoryCandle CenterpiecesHomemade Candles We made our centerpieces. We took candleholders and put sand and seashells in them. Then we finished them by making them into gel candles. Our reception theme was under the sea so this was perfect. These candles can be made with any decorations. I found the gel wax on the internet. Potpourri & Candles We are using small glass ivy bowls (the round ones with the fluted top, 8" in diameter) with potpourri in the bottom. A small tee candle is then placed in a glass votive cup, which is then placed inside the ivy bowl. The tee candle will burn for 3 hours and gives off the scent of the potpourri. The candles stay with the theme of our candle light wedding. They were about about $2.50 to make. They will placed on silver foil doilies on the tables. Cheap & Chic Centerpieces
Sugared Fruit I am making my centerpiece out of real fruit covered with sugar. It makes a beautiful centerpiece and you can eat the fruit later, so no waste at all. (We are getting married on the first of December and it will be really beautiful for a Christmas wedding.) Chocolate Covered Strawberries For my wedding, we are using chocolate covered strawberries. They will be wrapped in colored foil, (wedding colors of course). We both love strawberries. They will be placed in miniature baskets. In the basket will be artificial grass (wedding colors), a few rose petals, and some glitter. Attached to the strawberries will be ribbons with our name and date printed on it. computer dvd faq career Business Web Online Degrees Site The Voip The Motels Log Info Exchange Software e-Business Hair Loss Save Software Marketing books origami swimming tour ask cooking tips fish care commercial banking Home Mortgage investment bank Auto Racing education loans weight loss product child healths circumcision menstruation beauty care eat indoor gardeningEdible CenterpiecesCandy Tree Make a candy tree! To do this, all you need to do is take a white Styrofoam cone and use straight pins or hot glue to stick Hershey kisses to the cone. Then decorate the tree as you like. I am adding ribbon at the top and letting it drape down the sides for a soft effect. I also took some "rose trim", cut out the roses, and added the roses along with some greenery leave sparingly around the tree to add more softness and elegance to the candy tree. To top it off, I hot-glued four of the roses with two silver rings (to look like wedding rings) to the top of the cone. I will place this in the center of my reception tables with some greenery around the bottom edge of the cone with some votive candles sitting around the table. Fluted Champagne Glass For our wedding, we were on a limited budget so I decided to make my own centerpieces. I took a fluted champagne glass and put one piece of clear, opalescent colored tissue paper in it. I filled the tissue paper with pastel colored Hershey's kisses. Then, I stuck a sprig of silver stars shooting out of the middle and tied a ribbon (with matching wedding color of course!) around the paper at the top of the glass to keep all of the goodies inside. During the wedding, the guests munched on the treats and at the end I had a beautiful set of champagne glasses to add to my stemware collection. Hand Painted Pots I am getting married in October, Halloween to be exact. The favors to my guests are hand painted 3" flower pots filled with little bags of candy corn. My centerpieces will be larger hand painted flower pots, tied with a nice bow, and filled with red, green and yellow apples. If you look very carefully, you can even find real crystal for a dollar. Then the vases can be wrapped with decorative beads or ribbons and filled with flowers. You can also place colored glass beads in the bottom of the vase to create a wonderful centerpiece. All of these ideas can cut the price of your centerpieces in half (in relation to the retail suggested price of $75 to $100 dollars each). Bridesmaids Bouquet I was recently the maid of honor at a wedding where my beautifully large bouquet doubled as the centerpiece for my table, and the same for the bridesmaids. First, it got it out of my way, and second, it was lovely to look at... large champagne roses. Candleholders as Bud Vases For our centerpieces, we used tall candleholders as bud vases. They were clear glass and looked antique. We found them at a discount chain for $2.00 each. We filled them with small roses, baby's breath and greenery that I purchased at a wholesale florist, and tied gold bows around them. The total cost of our centerpieces was less than $100, and they were beautiful! Terra Cotta Pots We're using five 4" terra cotta pots per table ($.39 each). Each one is spray painted white which gives it a sponge-painted look. Then, we are tying ribbon ($.55 per yard) around each one. The pots are getting planted (by a florist) with tulips and pansies and other seasonal potted flowers in multitudes of spring colors. The centerpieces will double as favors.
Pine Cone Wreath Since we are having a winter wedding, we decided to try something other than flowers (which are expensive) for our centerpieces. My fiancé and I are collecting pine cones of all shapes and sizes. We will be painting them gold and making wreaths out them. We are going to decorate the wreaths with a navy ribbon to match my wedding colors. In the center, we will place an extra large pillar candle (three wicks) also in navy. Decorate your tables with some fun-loving beach-theme centerpieces. Each wedding centerpiece is easy to put together, so anyone can do them. Buy some children's pail and shovel sets. Use these as your wedding centerpieces. You can fill them with fresh fruit or candies (lifesavers would be perfect). You could also fill them with sand and place several sea shells placed on top. Buy large, pillar candles with sea shells embedded in the wax. Set the candles in a low, flat dish that contains a bed of sand. Fill clear glass bowls with colored water. Layer the bottom with sea shells and "starfish" (fake of course). Float a candle on the top. Another beach theme wedding centerpiece idea would be to fill a bowl with water and tint it blue with food coloring. Buy some of those fake tropical fish you see in novelty stores. Float them in the water. Last idea with the bowls :) Place colored sand in the bottom of the bowl (available at craft stores). Fill with water. Tint it a light blue if desired. Place a "castle" on the bottom of the bowl (you can find items such as this at any pet store that sells fish). Add a bit of fake seaweed for effect. See if you can track down some lighthouses to use as wedding centerpieces. Perfect for a beach theme wedding. Check out your local hobby store. Make seashell candles. Use large seashells and fill with melted beeswax. Insert a wick in the center and let set. Create colored sand bottles. Get some unique shaped bottles and pour colored sand into them. You can make some very interesting designs using different colors of sand (which is available at craft stores). Insert a taper candle into the top of the bottle. Your Christmas wedding centerpieces may not be the least expensive wedding centerpiece idea, so if you like it you may want to make just a few and put them on the more special tables or scatter them around the room. For your Christmas wedding centerpieces you will need:
The fun part:Decorate your wreath! Yup, it's that simple. Glue clusters of berries around the wreath. Entwine some ribbon on top of the wreath and glue it down in key places. Make your wreath look how you want it to. You can also buy ornaments to place within the wreath or other decorations of your choice to disperse within the branches or to simply place on top of the branches. When your wreaths are complete, place the candles in the center of them and you have your Christmas wedding centerpieces! If you would like Christmas wedding centerpieces to double as pew decorations, you will need to attach something to the back of the wreath that will allow it to hang on the pew. Most craft stores carry pew bow holders that should work for this. The trick - you will need to detach the holders before you can lay the wreaths down on the tables at the reception. And, you will need to make sure your decorations are glued firmly in place so that when the wreath hangs upright they don't fall off. Get your bridesmaids together and make a party out of it. Play Christmas music and drink hot cocoa. Eat candy canes, sing and dance. But, no matter what you do have fun making your wreaths and planning your Christmas wedding! Balloons, ribbons and bows, soft toys, rubber duckies, streamers and flowers are all components that will go to make lovely baby shower centerpieces. In this section we have some centerpiece ideas, or why not ‘bake’ a diaper cake? –take a look at our Diaper Cake recipes– this will also make a useful and practical gift for the mom-to-be. Position and fix a piece of florist’s foam (oasis) in a basket. There are many shapes and sizes of basket available, so you’ll be sure to find something you like. Into this arrange fresh flowers, these could include baby’s breath, foliage and carnations, or any seasonal flower. Colors could coordinate with the theme of the baby shower. A basket lined with a receiving blanket and filled with baby items will make a nice centerpiece. Some of the following items could be included - baby lotion, baby shampoo, baby powder, teething ring, rattle, bib, washcloth, little socks or booties and a rubber ducky or soft toy, with helium balloons attached to the handle(s). Or the basket could be wrapped in cellophane, with a pretty bow. A cute centerpiece can be made by putting some glass pebbles in the bottom of a clear glass bowl. Then two-thirds fill the bowl with water. Instead of floating candles have floating rubber duckies. You could have all small rubber duckies or a mommy (and daddy) and baby duckies. If the mom-to-be is expecting twins Noah’s ark is a popular choice for a baby shower theme or centerpiece. For a fun and simple centerpiece attach helium balloons to 2 soft toy animals, such as 2 teddies, 2 elephants or 2 rubber duckies. Continue to learn more about centerpieces, please visit babbee. An easy home-made Christmas star can be made in a jiffy using shiny red wrapping paper, cardboard, scissors, glue, glitter and some string. Draw a huge star on the cardboard and cut it out. Make a hole on the top. Cover it with the foil or shiny wrapping paper. Paint glue in any pattern on the star and spread the glitter over it. Dust off the excess glitter, when the glue dries. Attach the string and your star is ready to be hanged anywhere you wish. Christmas wreaths made of evergreen leaves with bright red ribbon bows look beautiful too along with hollies and bells. But you do not have to spend a fortune on a centerpiece. Use your imagination and some simple materials to create unique, personalized centerpieces. Involve the entire family and start a new holiday tradition as you decorate your home. Lowe's is happy to provide this information as a service to you. Materials for Fresh CenterpiecesYou can create a beautiful centerpiece with candles and a few fresh ingredients. This centerpiece is perfect for the foyer or an occasional table.
Select a basket or other decorative container. If you use a basket, be sure to line it with plastic sheeting. Place another container inside the basket or container and stuff newspaper around it so that it will not move. Soak the floral foam in water until it sinks. Place the saturated foam in the inner container so that at least one inch is above the rim. Insert up to three taper candles of varying height or one pillar candle into the wet floral foam. The candles need to be at least 1" apart so heat from one candle will not melt the others. Wash the greenery to remove dirt. Gently remove the last few needles on the cut end of the branches so that you will have a clean end to insert into the foam. Cut two similar cedar branches and insert them into the ends of the floral foam. The branches should point downward so the ends touch the table. Add additional evergreen branches in a variety of types and sizes around the foam. Try holly, juniper, dusty miller, redwood, pine and magnolia. Cut four medium lengths of cedar and insert into the four corners. Personalize the centerpiece with ornaments, picks, ribbon and beaded garland. Inexpensive wire garland adds sparkle and interest. Layer as much as you like to achieve your desired look. Continue to learn more about centerpieces, please visit lowe's. Creative Wedding Centerpieces

Gingerbread Houses I’m having a Christmas wedding. I am buying gingerbread houses from my baker and using them as my centerpieces. They will add to the festivities of the holiday and add both color and fun to my wedding. Valentine's Day Since I'm having a Valentine's Day wedding, my centerpieces were red candles inside hurricane glasses on top of a clear glass plate. We wove silk ivy and white baby's breath around the globe and out the sides. They're very inexpensive and ties the red and wedding together. May Day Baskets We are getting married on May 1st. For our centerpieces, we chose to have May Day Baskets. We are decorating the baskets with flowers and tulle and filling them with popcorn and candies. Sponge-Painted Pots My sister just got married, and for her centerpieces she got a bunch of friends together to sponge-paint pots in her wedding colors. We then contacted a garden center and had them plant pansies in her colors in the pots. The centerpieces did not cost a lot, looked great, and one guest at each table got to take the plant home as a nice memory of the day! Theme CenterpiecesCinderella Theme Our wedding has a Cinderella theme. We were engaged at Disney World and vacation there often. Our centerpieces are pumpkins with silk ivy draped around them. Mickey Mouse Theme My daughter is having a Mickey Mouse themed wedding. I have purchased many plush Mickey & Minnie toys, some very cheap at yard sales and thrift stores. We have spray painted wicker baskets in all shapes and sizes, colored white or red, to fit the pair of plush Toys. We are sitting “the Couple” (Mickey & Minnie) in each basket according to their size and tying red or white helium-filled balloons to the handles. I have also dressed three Mickey & Minnie Couples to be placed on the bridal table in Bridal attire in all white with white ribbons, white candles and white bows for bride and red for the attendants. Favors are going to be Mickey Mouse & Minnie Mouse shaped homemade cookies, tied in red or white tulle with bows of red and white, “thanks for sharing our day” cards attached. Lego Castles My fiancé and I are having a medieval wedding, so we are using Lego castles for centerpieces with little Lego men and horses. We are hoping the guests will play with them. Tips for Making CenterpiecesHere are some tips to help you with selecting and setting up centerpieces for your wedding reception:
Unique CenterpiecesWishing Well Put pens, paper, and a wishing well on the tables for centerpieces. Guests can put advice, best wishes, little notes, etc... I will decorate the wells to match the theme, and colors of my wedding. Love Poems For a very romantic touch, have a calligrapher write out different love poems (by Pablo Neruda, E.E. Cummings, the Brownings, or your favorite poet) and place them in antique silver picture frames. Surround the frame with roses, and you have your centerpieces! Fish Bowl Our centerpieces will be an ivy bowl on a mirror tile and a beta fighting fish inside it. You can add colored river rock (from a pet supply store) to the bottom of the bowl for extra color. This works great if your colors are jewel tones. Place a plastic bag under the tile so that your guests can take home the fish after the reception - kids love it!
We found the price for 20 round cakes was similar to sheet cakes and a huge wedding cake and they make an interesting centerpiece. (P.S. the cake is chocolate with chocolate frosting.) Champagne Buckets We are using aluminum champagne buckets as the centerpieces. Inside will be a bottle of champagne. Balloons will be hung above in our colors with ribbon hanging down. And we are using food coloring and water to make colored ice cubes for the buckets. We'll have Hershey Kisses around the table. The champagne is something we need to get anyway so it's perfect. Wine Bottle We are getting married at a winery in Napa Valley in September. Our centerpieces will be wine bottles made into "lamps". We filled them with candle oil and added a wick. There will also be bunches of grapes around the base of the wine bottles. Champagne Glasses & Balloons My mother had 20 centerpieces and only spent $50 - that's only $1.25 a centerpiece (and they're gorgeous). Take two plastic champagne glasses and hot glue them so they cross (laying down). Hot glue four clear glass marbles in each glass (for weight). Tie 2 helium balloons around the middle and there ya go! The marbles in the champagne glass make it look as if bubbles are pouring out of your champagne glasses and you add your colors to the helium balloons to coordinate. Board Games We're using board games and children's games as our centerpieces. We bought several of our childhood (and current) favorite board games - such as Cooties, Ants-in-Your-Pants, Monopoly, Life - and we're setting them up in the center of each table. We hope that this will not only look fun, but BE fun for those who choose to sit and play a few games! Money Tree I have designed centerpieces for various types of receptions from very informal to elegantly designed pieces. One of the most memorable was the "money" tree centerpiece for the less formal reception. A money tree with fake money and a 3X5 piece of marbled paper was placed on each branch of the tree. Each guest wrote a "wish" or a "hint for a happy marriage" or just a simple "good luck" thought. They attached their thought for the bride and groom and replaced the paper money with real money. To add a personal touch, pencils were placed next to the place cards. The pencils were engraved with the bride and grooms name and their wedding date with a satin ribbon and a silk flower around the pencil. Each table presented their money tree with wishes to the bride and groom who read them aloud. It was a warm-hearted way to send the bride and groom off. Unique Beer Bottles My fiancé and I wanted something different for centerpieces, something that fit our personalities. I am not a flower person, and I do not like lace and bows. So I took beer bottles and cleaned the labels off. Then I used spray glue and sprinkled extra fine iridescent white glitter over the entire bottle. It gave them a frosted look. I also made our own "beer" labels with our picture, name, and wedding date and glued them to the front of the bottle. I tied a light silver ribbon to the mouth of the bottle and inserted glow sticks. We were not allowed to use candles, so the glow sticks made up for that. They were fun and completely fitting of us. Continue to learn more about centerpieces, please visit USAbride. |
