Acquisitions Librarians
As your collections grow, the process of identifying, ordering,
tracking and receiving materials becomes very time consuming.
In addition, your electronic resources have their own special
rules and procedures when it comes to licensing and access.
Endeavor addresses these and other concerns with Voyager for
physical assets and Meridian for e-resources.
Voyager™
Voyager, the most trusted Integrated Library System available
today, was specifically designed to reduce paperwork, smooth
your workflows, and automate processes wherever possible.
Specifically, Voyager offers a fully integrated Electronic
Order Process and workflow automation puts every step of the
acquisition process online, while Electronic Data Interchange
eliminates clerical functions and paper records. Your book
agent, publisher or preferred provider is probably already
up-to-speed on Voyager, because we support the UN/EDIFACT standard.
In addition, Voyager has the capability to handle:
- Complex issue cycles for periodicals. Voyager 5 includes
new Complex Serial Pattern Prediction to match the changing
face of serials patterns. This new capability will allow
operators to define more difficult normalized irregular patterns,
eliminating manual intervention for those serials that don’t
follow any standard frequency.
- Fast-tracking order and invoice line item creation. Voyager’s
Quick Line Item function on purchase orders (and on invoices
in Voyager 5) has become an essential time
saver for many acquisition operations by reducing the number
of processing steps involved.
Meridian™
Managing the stacks was easy compared to the complex relationships
between electronic resources, the packages through which they
were acquired, and the licenses that govern their use. You
have to be able to support a wide range of patron activities
and ensure that your staff has the control they need over these
resources.
Quickly becoming the Electronic Resource Management system
of choice among libraries worldwide, Meridian gives you the
ability to manage and troubleshoot all of your electronic resources.
With a single interface, you can:
- View a summary of a resource, showing key information about
coverage, licensing and acquisition history. Meridian is
also context-sensitive – so different information is presented
to your staff, depending on their responsibilities and authorities
- Access bibliographic holdings information and acquisitions
from your ILS in real time
- Take advantage of sophisticated, yet easy-to-use reporting
and analysis capabilities so you can make data-driven decisions
regarding your e-resource collection.
- Display e-resource information from Meridian in your OPAC
so patrons can easily access the information they need.
Cataloging
Your collections span print books and journals, digital assets
of many types, art and other objects. It all needs to be described
and made accessible via your catalog. Two products from Endeavor
make the process easy and efficient.
Voyager™
Voyager, our proven and powerful solution for Integrated Library
Management, provides the interface for staff to populate your
catalog. Even MARC records from your vendors can be imported
to start the cataloging process. Special items and archives
can all be entered using a customizable interface. Voyager's
Universal Catalog offers multi-database libraries the ability
to create a centralized union catalog. The Universal Catalog
offers users access to a de-duplicated database of bibliographic
records, and the detailed holdings and item information from
the databases of the local libraries. Universal Catalog provides
only the best records for consortia databases, saving time
and money for the multiple libraries involved.
Curator™
Your institution is creating digital content locally. Collections
of papers, audio files, art images and important cultural heritage
materials are being digitized. Your patrons want seamless access
to those resources as easily as they would access any other
materials in your library. Curator is a flexible, scalable
solution for creating, searching and managing all of your digital
resources.
Curator provides:
- Integrated searching across content in both the OPAC and
the local digital catalog using the FAST Data Search Engine™.
- Multiple repositories and databases for defining Virtual
Collections.
- Support for local metadata formats defined by a Document
Type Definition – including Dublin Core and Encoded Archival
Description – or any other DTD.
- Access to Relevant Materials with Enriched Searching.
