We respect your right to privacy At the Red Cross of Central Maryland, we respect your right to privacy and we understand that visitors to the Red Cross website need to know they are in control of their personal information. We also want to present information online that is tailored to your needs. For this reason, we may ask you to register or to provide personal information when you complete certain forms, enter a contest, or subscribe to our newsletter. We will use the personal information you share with us to: Answer your specific needs; course registration, monetary donation, vehicle donation, volunteer registration or personal comment. How the Red Cross will protect your personal information The Red Cross will protect the personal information that you share with us as described below: We will not share your personal information with third parties. Your personal credit card information is guaranteed secure by VeriSign, and is encrypted twice to prevent theft. If you use a computer in a public place or share a computer with others, remember to close your browser window when you finish a session online. The Red Cross of Central Maryland may disclose information you provide if required to do so by law or if we have a good faith belief that disclosure is necessary to (1) comply with the law or with legal process served on the Red Cross; (2) protect and defend the rights or property of the Red Cross; or (3) act in an emergency to protect someone's safety. If we gather demographic information from you, we will not share that information with any other entity. We use order forms for customers to request information, products and services. For that order form, we collect visitor's contact information (e-mail address) and financial information (credit card numbers). Contact information from the order is used to send orders to our customers and to get in touch with the a customer when necessary. Cookies A "cookie" is a small line of text that is stored with your Web browser for record-keeping purposes and to help us provide better service to you. Your browser has options to accept, reject, or provide you with notice when a cookie is sent.
