Retrospectively, Hotel Erzsébet has been synonymous with Budapest providing excellence in traditional industrial hospitality. The idea of building an unique downtown located hotel was originally formed in 1867. During that time, the hotel industry was the same profitable business as nowadays. As a result, new hotels were built besides the reconstruction works of the existing ones. On the 18th of April 1872, a local newspaper called "Fővárosi Lapok" heralded firstly the establishment of a new hotel in the heart of Budapest.
