R-Studio - the most comprehensive data recovery software and undelete tool supports FAT12/16/32, NTFS, NTFS5 (created or updated by Win2000), Ext2FS (Linux) file systems and recovers files both on local logical and physical disks and disks on remote computers over the networks, even if their partition structures are damaged or deleted. I tested R-Studio on my 8 GB drive, which I've been using as a stand-in for my main 40 GB drive. It took about twenty minutes to scan the entire drive and identify everything, even old over-written files no longer recoverable. That 40 GB drive has been in mothballs these last six months waiting on discovery of a decent proggie that could identify and recover several gigabytes of unbacked data otherwise 'lost' in a repartitioning error. It's running on that drive even as I write and will take hours, but it's worth it. Huge 'thumbs up' on this brilliant and very affordable utility. I'll report on the extent of my success with it tomorrow!
