- Computers
- Basically a database, it's a location on the internet that has the software to accept domain name queries and translate the domain names into IP addresses.
- DNS
- Domain Name System domain name - internet address, eg, www.yourbusinessname.com.au

- gTLD
- Generic Top Level Domain hosting/webhosting - a location (a server somewhere, connected to the internet) which houses your internet address
- ICANN
- Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (www.icann.org/)
- ISP
- Internet Service Provider
- Registrant
- Someone who holds, is applying for, or renewing, a domain name licence
- Registrar
- auDA-accredited companies who handle domain name licence applications and renewals. The list of auDA-accredited registrars can be found at www.auda.org.au/registrars/
- Registry

- Reseller
- Non-accredited companies who handle domain name licence applications and renewals.
- Transfers
- Change of Registrar of Record
- WHOIS
- A search tool to find contact details for domain names. For more information go to www.auda.org.au/whois/ . To use WHOIS, go to www.mywebname.com.au
