Information about Capital Networks Pty Ltd

Information for people who have registered their domain name through Capital Networks Pty Ltd trading as TotalNIC

On 29 April 2005, auDA terminated Capital Network Pty Ltd's accreditation by agreement (see auDA Media Release 29/4/2005).

Please note that your domain name is NOT at risk. Your domain name will continue unaffected until the expiry date.

auDA is correctly acting as your temporary registrar. In order to renew your domain name before it expires or to make any changes, you will need to nominate a new registrar of Record.

How to nominate a Registrar of Record: A list of accredited registrars and links to their web sites is available here. There is no charge for simply nominating a registrar of record, but some registrars may charge for additional services. It is important to check the service offerings and charges of each registrar before making your choice.

Once you have chosen a registrar you will need to contact them and give them your Domain Name Password (previously called the Registry Key). If you know your password, you can give it to the registrar of your choice. They will do the rest. If you do not know your password, go to the Recover Password Tool and follow the instructions.

Carrying out these few tasks now will ensure that your domain name details are up to date and that you can renew your domain name before it expires.

Legal Action: Domain Names Australia

auDA has won its TPA action against Domain Names Australia Pty Ltd, over mass mail outs during 2003.

Domain Registrations Warning

auDA cautions that registering multiple domain names for the primary purpose of capturing web traffic and/or selling click-through advertising may result in cancellation of the domain names for breach of policy.
