Their answer... "Hey, these guys are a class act, and they are a marketing machine - from their full-color brochures, business cards, and newsletter, to their impeccably clean pickup trucks." Then they went on to say that they now use XYZ Excavating regardless of price, because they know them and trust them.

Now, that's POWERFUL.

Anyway, this particular client mailed the first 5000 pieces over a course of about a month, and then he called and asked me to hold the other 5000 until they got through all the leads he generated from the first 5000 postcards.

Well, time went by and we were cleaning out our warehouse one week, and we came across these remaining 5000 postcards. These postcards were well over 8-months old, and we still had not mailed them.

I called the client to see what was wrong. I thought maybe the postcards had flopped and he did not want to waste the postage mailing the remaining 5000, but to my surprise...

He said, "Allyn, we are still getting calls from the first 5000 we mailed. It's unbelievable, we're asking people how they found out about us, and they're saying we sent them a postcard... we have not mailed a postcard in at least 8-months."

He went on to tell me that people had put the postcard up on their cubicles, tacked it to corkboards at their desk, and one CEO had taped it to the door of the conference room.

Now, that's SHELF LIFE!
