For some area residents, the proverbial “hold down the fort” has taken on a whole new meaning.
For the more than 50 Brunswick County residents who attended the first Friends of Fort Johnston public meeting last week, holding down the fort means quickly developing a plan of action to keep a proposed homeless shelter from overtaking the historic site.
